I have a children's book that has been shipped USPS. This is what I saw when I checked the tracking: Possible delay in delivery due to arrival at incorrect carrier facility - December 2, 2011 10:31:00 AM . The message hasn't changed, I don't know how long the delay is supposed to be and no clue where the incorrect facility is located. I just love criptic messages.

1) They are opening up your package to see what they can pilfer.
2) They sent it to the wrong place, it is on a plane to Guam.

(Oh, USPS - probably a boat to Guam.)

Usually it means something is wrong with the package. Maybe the box was damaged and needs to be repacked, or the contents were damaged, could even be the address label is incorrect (wrong zip, etc.) and they are verifying address.

Wait, it was at 4:20?? That can only mean one thing: That you'll get your package faster if you have snacks on hand, or live next to a White Castle.

Who would steal a fruitcake on purpose???? Maybe they were being nice by giving you the books and tossing the cake.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 5, 2011 3:29:26 PM PST
Obviously someone at the post office pilfered the cake and replaced it with some pilfered books from another box.

This is what you think the "obvious" explanation is??

The most obvious explanation is that the labels for (at least) two boxes got placed on the wrong boxes.

I could probably come up with a half-dozen explanations that are less convoluted, and more obvious than your "obvious" solution, too.

I'd have to agree with Warren. There are far more logical explanations than the notion that they stole it, and THEN replaced it.

If they were going to steal your mail, they'd just steal it. They wouldnt replace it with something else.

if I knew your address I'd send you the fruitcake that keeps getting re-gifted every Christmas around here.

Dang, this just happened to me. It's super frustrating because the package is only about twenty miles away. I would just drive over and get it if they are having an issue with it. The message about it being delayed appeared after it said that it was out for delivery which leads me to believe that USPS possibly tried to deliver the package that morning but didn't because no one was home. However, usually they leave a note stating that a delivery attempt was made and this message has never came up in the past. Of course USPS has been known to do some crazy stuff. It probably doesn't help that I live in the middle of nowhere and that they might not even think I have a valid address!

I am pissed that I was supposed to receive a book by the 26th by a guy who's show I am going to TONIGHT on the 28th & I track it & on the 25th it was out for delivery, then delayed- external factors, then possible delay- incorrect carrier facility! Are you kidding me!!!! Fed Ex Smart Post? USPS!!!! So the guy has one day, one time & no book for him to auto graph. This is unacceptable!!!

Usually they also sell books at the "show"--- buy one there and return the other one when it eventually shows up.
