My problem was I was no longer the WSJ on my Kindle Fire. I have a KF to use at home and a Kindle ink/4 to use when traveling. The KF has glare which makes the screen unreadable in the car. The K4 does not and is lighter and has a longer battery life when traveling. I have been using both interchangeably. Mark informed me that I can no longer have both registered to WSJ. This was not part of the agreement when I subscribed to WSJ. I consider it a breech of contract. I was OK with the rules regarding book loaning and ownership but this last problem is an insult to me and makes me seriously doubt the value of my Kindle purchases. The Library is paid for by my taxes and my friends can exchange books with me. It appears to me that Amazon is destroying their customer loyalty.

Reply to this post.

Robert D. Her Kindle does not have a screen on which to change the time on her Kindle. Mine does, of course. Also, I do not understand 'sync'. When I go to a WI-FI place to download her books that are in my account, how do I download them? I thought they would just automatically appear on her Kindle if I designated a book to go there while in 'Manage My Kindle'. Because I am somewhat electronically challenged, I cannot figure this out. I know how it SHOULD work, but that's probably wishful thinking. Not every company operates under the concept of making things easy on their customers. When I chose to get a refund on my Kindle Touch I fully expected to find it a hassle, it was anything but. Not only was I able to choose the option of having UPS pick up the package at my door (even more important since I just had minor surgery) for only a $6 charge - I never expected to be refunded my initial shipping charges!!! Imagine my surprise today when I got the email from Amazon stating my full purchase price PLUS original shipping (except for the small deduction for having UPS pick up at my door) would be fully refunded back to me!!! You guys rock. Although I wasn't completely satisfied with my Kindle device, it wasn't the product - it was my more based on my personal needs/wants - I couldn't be happier with Amazon! I'll definitely be using your site for more of my purchases and as soon as I can save enough for another eReader choice (one that will better suit my personal needs) - you're my first choice for making that purchase. Thank you again for being so customer-friendly. I wish the entire Amazon family a very happy and safe Memorial Day! God blessDeborah Sharpe

Reply to this post.

Does anyone use a stylus? For a while there it would update in a half-hearted, spotty sort of way -- I would get some of my emails, but not all of them. Now it doesn't even try. It claims to have refreshed, but says my most recent email was from two months ago. Also I tried to add an additional email account today, and it gave me an error message saying it failed to connect. Both the account I have linked now and the one I tried to add today are gmail accounts. Any thoughts, guys? It'd be nice if I could use this feature. This is a DIFFERENT ebook pricing thread! I'm not griping! OK, this morning I was leaving my bedroom and there was my bookshelf...the one that acts as my DTB TBR pile. It's full. I had a ton of books I hadn't gotten around to reading when I got my first Kindle several years ago. They're all still there. Patiently waiting.So...I saw Gregory Maguire's Lost on the shelf... I thought it's been a while since I made a dent in that DTB TBR pile, so I'll have a go at it.Well...it has made me appreciate my Kindle even more. This is a huge trade paperback. Cost $14.95 for paperback, $12.99 for Kindle, in case anyone's keeping score, but anyhoo...the thing is unwieldy. The ceiling fan is flipping my pages. It's so big my arthritic hands are having a devil of a time hanging onto it upright enough so I can read it. When I read my Kindle (and my Nook as well, I have one of those too) the device just disappears. Gone. Poof! I am just into the book. Trying to read this big honking DTB after several years of only ebook reading is a wakeup call. The physical book with its weight, and flipping pages, and the realization I need to find something to use as a bookmark has me actually considering paying the $12.99 to get another copy. So I can read it in comfort. My Kindle has spoiled me...I love the thing. And the money it takes to feed it is well spent. So all you Kindle ebook price gripers...consider the CONVENIENCE of a Kindle book. The shelf space saved. The ease of reading an oversized volume on a Kindle as compared to the physical book. The shelf space you can put your collection of Faberge eggs on instead of books. The fact of being able to tuck hundreds of books in your purse, briefcase, suitcase...whatever. The fact you can dial up Aunt Ammy anytime and get a new book if your heart desires. 3 am in a hotel in Podunk and just finished a book in a series? No problem! Aunt Ammy will have the next book in the series to you in minutes. Even if you don't have 3G or free wireless you can probably hitch a ride on your cell phone connection. If ebook prices go down I will not complain. But if they don't...I don't feel "ripped off" or many of the other phrases we hear tossed around over and over on this forum. And while we're at it, Prime is a shipping program, people. You're lucky you even get to borrow ONE book a month on it. Stop yer bitchin'!

Reply to this post.

deleting

How do you delete books you have read from your Kindles?

Reply to this post.

How do you find the installed Android version?

I would have thought that Setting | Device would show the version, but no.
