Good beginner camera for a bright 10 year old. Buy to give as a gift. The cons include: Slow Lens, no RAW, propritary battery, video is not 1080P, no manual focus. But those have little meaning to the child. Pros? The price.

So what? Manufacturers and publishers have been giving things away for reviews and word of mouth advertizing since advertizing began. Amazon was simply among the first to be open and above board about the fact doing so before laws went into place making discolsure mandatory. Your incessant complaints, and easily proven lies about imaginary facts aren't going to stop manufacturers and publishers (they're the ones who provide the items for review, not Amazon) from continuing the practice.

Nice camera for a budding photographer. Just remember you need to buy an external flash. Love that it has both LCD viewfinder and electronic viewfinder. I do not have this camera, but have never regretted buying a Fuji. Or a Slurpee.

Yeah, but Wile E. Coyote keeps falling off cliffs and getting bonked with anvils. He's not too bright.

How is this a Gold Box Deal: Fujifilm FinePix SL300 14 MP Digital Camera when yesterday it was the same price on Amazon I know this because I was shopping for cameras. This "gold box deal" is also the same cost of the camera at walmart, target, and ebay. Amazon is turning to sh@t....

This is definitely a budget camera. The big plus seems to be its macro capabilities, but for indoor shots I'd look for something better.

I'd suggest the Olympus XZ-1 in this price range. It's $50 more than this one, discounted late last month because the XZ-2 is due to be released soon.

I have this camera. The zoom is fantastic and it takes great daylight shots. Low light shots tend to be grainy if not adjusted properly for lighting. It does have a manual mode. My daughter loves this camera as it allows her to take creative shots for her digital photography class. There is also a panorama mode on this camera that she uses. The zoom allows her to focus in on people's faces at parties and take natural shots. Some of the outdoor shots had very natural colors and even better hues than my Canon camera shots. Canon tends to oversaturate colors sometimes. The ultra wide zoom lens really helped us get some sports action shots and other shots that would have not been possible on a regular camera. With the high MP cell phone cameras available now, budget zoom cameras are the way to go. I would not want to take my DSLR everywhere so this camera ends up going to more places and gets handled by the whole family.

D. Caswell says:
Yes, it has a built-in flash. It also accepts an auxiliary flash.

From the production description:
A hot-shoe accommodates an auxiliary TTL flash, for shooting scenes beyond the capability of the built-in flash. A selection of versatile compatible flash units is available from your FinePix dealer.
