This is an offer you cannot refuse. Keep your DVD version close and your Blu-Ray version closer.

For those of you who appreciate a fine musical score, and watch films to the very end (including credit rolls) be advised that at the end of Godfather II, the last 10 second musical chord is missing from this "restoration". This occurs right before the restoration credits roll.

This is a good deal. Last year, the GB for this same item was eight dollars more than now. Grab it.

Wow that's a killer deal. I paid twice that and I feel I got my monies worth out of it. Any movie collector out there shouldn't hesitate to buy this amazing collection for that crazy low price!

While this type of movie has zero appeal to me I appreciate the quality behind it. So I purchased it and had it sent to a friend who has a 92 inch (diag,) projection theater system. It will be appreciated.

I paid at least 8 dollars more for this collection a year ago and am only 75% through with the first (of three) movies. Unless you're a fan of the extremely overrated, this set's not a good buy. If you don't own the trilogy already on DVD, fine -- but if if it's already yours on a digital disc, get yourself something new and let the snobbiest of film scholars discover what a snoozer of a transfer this is, both visually and audibly.

"Was there only 5 copies of this? It's gone already."

No, because 48 minutes after you posted this, I just bought one.

When are we gonna get a DVD copy of the long film Coppola made using
the first two films films, editing them in chronological sequence and telling the story from the beginning to the end?
I used to have it on VHS years ago.

Lift the following from the set's commentary section written by a fan.
"For a year I yearned for the $69.99 box set. Finally, my birthday comes and my wife hands it to me. I have watched the faded VHS version for 15 years, I can't wait for this.

I put in film one, play, I sit back, relax, my jaw drops.

The logo is flickering. The light flickers that come from direct film transfer, the same ones on the VHS, that can be easily removed by digitizing. They're still there.

The Color is washed out, the shading uneven, the picture quality wavers from sharp to soft, from high contrast to pastel colors.

The surround sound does nothing. The scene where Sonny is shot to death by a circle of Tommy Guns doesn't come from all corners of the room. The sub woofer is nearly flaccid.

There are scratches in the film, nicks and pings."
Can anyone comment on the quality of this set?

B. Green says:
The films were restored that way, any defects you think you see were done intentionally to reflect how the films are supposed to look.

I bought this BR collection last time this was on sale. One of the best deals on an American classic!

I bought this set back in Nov of last year - paid $19+ for it. Don't remember if that was the regular price at the time or if it was a GB Lightening Deal (or maybe one of my daily Quick Picks).. Anyway, it's a very nice set. The one I got was also in a cardboard slipcase and came with a 10-page booklet that gives the details of the three films and the supplemental disc, plus info on all the oscars the films won. (Barebones info, nothing in depth.) My only complaint is the booklet is too big to fit into the slipcase with the disc case. The films look great in bluray - if you don't already have these in your collection this would be a deal to get.

I bought this from Amazon's UK site back in July 2010 for $25.90 so this price is really quite a deal. Though I suppose I got to enjoy mine for 2.5 more years!

I am also waiting for "The Complete Saga" on Blu-ray with the additional scenes. The third movie does not belong with the first two amazing films.

Feb 21, 2012 - GB deal was $25. It was an offer I could not refuse. Now $17.99 - Can't refuse this either, so gifting it to a movie lover. Makes a good gift set for Godfather series lovers.

Even if you only watch GF I and II, it's a steal. For that matter, the 10 hours of special features alone are worth $18.

Great to see Blu Ray prices come down.

This is a great series at a great price.

@dianels: OK, I admit, I bit! Your post is completely unrelated to the Deal of the Day. Your rants regarding Amazon not collecting sales tax perhaps belongs in another forum. Besides, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that unless your state tracks and monitors your online purchase, one doesn't always put in the total dollar amount of good purchased online on your tax return. States are asking so they can summarily get more money out of you.

'Nuff said.
