Well, did I miss something, because this seems like a paltry collection to be a pre-Christmas selection of gift sets. Did I miss another page of selections? Amazon, this gift set offering is pretty shabby, if I didn't miss more pages.
Nope, double checked - 7 rather haphazard and not all that desirable sets. What the what?!

And 4 of those are collections of public domain books. They aren't paying any royalties and printing a binding a book isn't very expensive. If this is the sake price, they must be making a killing the rest of the time.

Jedi Path is definitely not a deal. Lowest price was $55 or so. So a $70 deal is awful. If it were 60% off, I would jump on it. I love Game of Thrones, but it seems expensive for a TV series promotional tie in (still tempted however). The book collections look very nice and high quality. Hmmmm....

Sorry, Pistol, but what the h--l does Christmas have to do with honestly reviewing a product? They're right--this is a really sad offering for the deal of the day. And as Ace says, most of these are in the public domain, and those that aren't have an extremely limited book audience.

Before purchasing either the Sherlock Holmes or the Jane Austen set, I recommend checking out Barnes & Noble's Leatherbound Classics, which are only about $18 each.

> That was the universe, once again, not revolving around you.
What about her saying the books were public domain (available for free public download) made you think she was discussing the universe? And what makes you think universes revolve?

Wow, very unappealing prices, especially the older classics that are in the public domain (so there is no royalty overhead). Perhaps it's made up for by the quality of the printings, but I see no evidence of that in looking at a couple.
IMO, a complete fail DOTD. OK, now someone attack me with a complete non sequitor that I am an ingrate without Christmas spirit because there is a commercial product in the world that is not a good value (seriously, the two have NOTHING to do with each other, jeez "pistol pete"!)

I am delighted that Amazon is offering this wonderful, altruistic gesture for the sake of its customers. It once again demonstrates the uplifting moral philosophy that had endeared the company to its many fans.

I thought it said collectibles, for collectors....to me, that would be first edition and leather bound, not what they are showing. Hell, even my 22yr old son has a first edition ,leather bound Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, and he's had it since it was first printed, that's a collectable, not a current print. And whoever said binding a book is cheap needs to get in the business, my mother was in the business, so I recall what she said.
