What's New with Kindle Touch?

There's a free software update available for Kindle Touch that includes an updated user interface and new features. For the best experience, we always recommend updating your Kindle Touch with the latest software updates.

Your Kindle Touch will receive the software update wirelessly, but you can also manually download the software update.

Note: After updating your Kindle Touch with this software update, we recommend plugging your device into a power source. As your Kindle Touch performs post-update tasks, it may require more power for a day or two.

To manually download the software update, go to Kindle Touch Software Update.

An updated user interface

We have an updated user interface for your Kindle Touch.

An important change to note is that Archived Items is now called Cloud. Your existing Kindle books and newsstand titles can be found under Cloud.

To learn more about using your newly updated Kindle Touch, go to Quick Guide to Using Your Kindle Touch.

Switch back and forth between reading and listening to books

Whispersync for Voice allows you to switch back and forth between reading and listening without losing your place. Whispersync for Voice synchronizes what you read on any Kindle platform device with Audible playback on Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Fire, or on Audible apps for iPhone and Android.

Enhanced Parental Controls

Parents can restrict access to the Experimental Web Browser, Kindle Store, and Cloud. While the Kindle Store and Cloud are locked with Parental Controls, you can continue to buy books from a computer and send them to your Kindle wirelessly.

For more information, go to Restrict Access to Shopping and Settings with Parental Controls.
