Managing Your Kindle Fire Content

After you register your Kindle Fire from your device, you can use Manage Your Content and Devices to view and change your account information, check the status of orders, manage your subscriptions, and download Kindle and other digital content you've purchased from Amazon.

Click the tabs along the top of the page to manage Your Content, Your Devices, or Settings.

Your Content

View and manage all your Kindle content, including subscriptions, audiobooks, archived personal documents and more.

Show and Sort

Under Your Content, you can use the "Show" dropdown to narrow your results to only the type content you are looking for, and the "Sort By" dropdown to change the order of the results.

Search your library

Enter search terms in the search field at the top of the screen to search your entire Kindle library for a specific title.

Actions

Click the "..." Actions button next to a title to reveal all information and options.

Use the Actions button to deliver books or active content to your Kindle device or Kindle app, download and transfer via USB, loan a book (if eligible for lending), or delete an item from your library.

Use the Actions button for any Kindle subscription content to deliver a past issue to your Kindle, download and transfer a past issue via USB, or cancel a subscription.

Use the Actions button for any personal document archived in your Kindle library, to deliver to a supported Kindle or delete from your library. Archived personal documents cannot be downloaded to a computer and transferred via USB.

Click the "Order Details" link to view the Order Summary in Your Account, or click the title to see the product detail page on Amazon.

Delivering a title

Locate the item you wish to download from the Your Content list. Filter your view or search your library to quickly find the item.

  1. Click the Actions button and choose "Deliver."
  2. A pop up box appears. Select which Kindle device or Kindle app to send the title to, and click "Deliver."
  3. A confirmation message appears.

Permanently remove an item from Your Content

Locate the item you wish to remove from the Your Content list. Filter your view or search your library to quickly find the item.

Click the Actions button and choose "Delete" to permanently remove the title item from your account.The item will no longer appear in the Cloud tab in your Books content library.

Note that after the title is removed from your account, you will no longer have access to re-download this title unless you re-purchase it. After deleting a personal document from your Kindle Fire, your document is permanently removed from your Kindle Library. Existing copies of the deleted title or personal document already on your device will not be removed unless you choose to delete them directly from the device.

You can keep additional back-ups of your content by saving a copy to your computer or another storage device.

Other Digital Content

Use the links listed under Other Digital Content on the left side of Manage Your Content and Devices to manage your MP3, Video, and Apps content.

Your Devices

The Your Devices page lists all of your registered Kindles and Kindle apps. The page also lists the Send-to-Kindle e-mail address for each device which enables you to send personal documents to your supported devices. You can also deregister a device or app, view warranty information, and manage Whispersync synchronization. Click the device or app to display all options.

If your Kindle is lost or stolen, or you transfer ownership to another person, you will need to deregister your Kindle from your Amazon account.

To change your Kindle's name:

  1. Select the device.
  2. Click the "Edit" link next to the device name.
  3. Enter a new name.
  4. Click the Savebutton when finished.

To change your Send-to-Kindle e-mail address:

  1. Select the device.
  2. Click the "Edit" link next to the device email address.
  3. Enter a new email prefix.
  4. Click the Savebutton when finished.

When you register your Kindle Fire, you'll automatically be assigned a Send-to-Kindle e-mail address. Learn more about Kindle Personal Document Service and your Send-to-Kindle e-mail address.

To deregister a Kindle:

  1. Select the device under Your Devices.
  2. Click the "Deregister" link.
  3. Click the Deregister button in the pop-up window.

1-Click Payment Settings

Amazon Kindle uses the 1-Click Payment Method, which requires a debit card or credit card as payment method. When you enter a 1-Click Payment Method on the Manage Your Content and Devices page on Amazon.com, any purchase you make from your Kindle device will automatically be charged to that payment method.

To add or change the default Kindle 1-Click Payment method:

  1. Select the Settings tab
  2. Under "Kindle Payment Settings," select "Edit Payment Method."
  3. Select the desired credit card information, and then select, then click "Continue." You may need to add the information for a new card.
  4. Enter the desired billing address, and then select "Continue."

Note: Changing your default 1-Click payment method on Manage Your Content and Devices will change your 1-Click payment method for all Amazon.com transactions you make going forward. See the Ordering via 1-Click Help page for more information about using 1-Click ordering on Amazon.com.

To edit payment for current subscriptions:

  1. Select the Settings tab.
  2. Under "Newsstand Subscription Settings," click "Manage Your Subscriptions."
  3. Next to your subscription billing details, click "Edit."

Newsstand Subscription Settings

On the Manage Your Content and Devices page, select the "Settings" tab. Then under "Newsstand Subscription Settings," click "Manage Your Subscriptions." The Newsstand Subscription Settings page lets you make changes to your Kindle subscription content.

Click the "+" icon next to the device name to display all options. Click the "Edit" links to manage your payment information and to determine where all future editions should be delivered.

Use the Actions dropdown menu to deliver a past issue to your Kindle, download and transfer a past issue via USB, or cancel a subscription.

Click "View inactive subscriptions" to view and manage just this content.

Downloading Back Issues

Only recent issues of magazines and newspapers will be available for re-download from your Kindle Fire or through the Manage Your Content and Devices page. Older issues of newspapers and magazines are automatically deleted from your Kindle Fire to make room for additional content. If you need access to a back issue of a newspaper or magazine, please keep the issue on your Kindle Fire as described in Keeping Subscription Content below.

To download available issues from Amazon.com:

  1. On the Newsstand Subscription Settings page, click the "+" symbol next to the publication title to view subscription details.
  2. Choose "Deliver past issue to my..." from the Actions dropdown menu and choose your preferred device.

Keeping Subscription Content

Your Kindle Fire automatically deletes issues that are more than seven issues old to free up space for new content. If you'd like to keep a copy of an issue on your device, follow these steps:

  1. From your Newsstand, press and hold on a title in grid view.
  2. Tap "Keep This Issue."

Personal Documents Settings

In the Personal Documents Settings section of the Settings tab, you can view or change:

  • Send-to-Kindle e-mail address
  • Personal document archiving options
  • Whispernet delivery options
  • Maximum allowed per document delivery charge
  • Your approved personal documents e-mail list

Send-to-Kindle E-Mail Address

Each of your supported devices is associated with a unique Send-to-Kindle e-mail address upon registration. Documents sent to this e-mail address are delivered to that specific device. You can view and change the Send-to-Kindle e-mail address associated with your supported device in the “Send-to-Kindle E-mail Settings” table.

To change the Send-to-Kindle e-mail address associated with your supported device, click on “Edit” next to the e-mail address. Enter your preferred e-mail address and click “Save” to complete the change.

Personal Document Archiving

Personal documents sent to any of your supported devices are automatically stored in your Kindle Library. You can view and download your archived personal documents to your supported device(s) conveniently anywhere at any time. Once archived, your personal documents will continue to be stored in your Kindle Library until you delete them. Retrieving personal documents from archive is supported on Kindle, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle Touch, and Kindle for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

You can re-deliver archived personal documents to any of your supported devices from Your Kindle Library. Personal document archiving is enabled by default in your Kindle Library. To change the archiving settings for your account, click “Edit Archive Settings” under the heading Personal Document Archiving and enter preferred settings. Click “Update” to complete the change.

Note:Your Kindle library can hold up of 5 GB of personal documents.

Setting your Personal Document Charge Limit

You can set the maximum charge you are willing to pay for a single personal document sent wirelessly to your Kindle. Any personal document exceeding this charge will be stored in your Kindle Library if you have enabled archiving of your personal documents and be available for download at a later date from your archived items on your Kindle.

The limit you set is a per document limit. If you send multiple documents for conversion in a .ZIP file, the total aggregated charge for conversion of all the documents may exceed your per document limit. As long as each document's charge is below the limit, conversion and delivery will be successful.

You can enter your maximum charge allowed per document delivery charge by clicking "Edit Whispernet Delivery" under Whispernet Delivery Options. Enter your preferred personal document charge limit and click "Update" to complete the change.

Note: The free Kindle application for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch interacts with Amazon.com and your Kindle Library using your device's wireless data service or a Wi-Fi connection. Your wireless carrier or network service provider may charge a fee for these services. Delivery of Kindle content to these device from Amazon.com is always free.

Approved Personal Document E-mail List

To prevent spam, your Kindle Fire will only receive documents from e-mail addresses you have approved.

You can add or delete an approved e-mail address under "Approved Personal Document E-mail List" section. To add an approved contact, select "Add a new approved e-mail address" under the heading "Approved Personal Document E-mail List." Add the e-mail address you wish to approve for receiving personal documents from on the pop-up and click "Add Address."

To delete a prior-approved contact, click "Delete" next to the E-mail address under "Approved Personal Document E-mail List."

If you wish to authorize all e-mail addresses from the same domain to send documents to your Kindle, only enter a partial e-mail address without the prefix, such as @yourcompany.com.

Country Settings

We'll display your country or region at the top of the Kindle Store so you know you're browsing the catalog of titles available for your country or region.

To select or change your home country:

  1. Visit the Manage Your Content and Devices page (http://www.amazon.com/mycd).
  2. Select the "Settings" tab.
  3. Below "Country Settings", click the "Change" button if the displayed country is incorrect.
  4. Choose an existing home address from your Amazon.com account or enter a new one.
  5. Click the "Update" button when finished.

International Roaming Settings

Fees for some wireless services downloaded using Whispernet may apply. Please see Connecting Your Kindle Fire Wirelessly for more information about available services.

Your Individual Charges

If you are a U.S. customer traveling internationally and have accepted International Delivery Fees for services such as wirelessly receiving periodicals or personal documents, the fees for those services will be displayed on the Manage Your Content and Devices Page. Personal documents fees are listed on the Personal Documents Settings page and charges for subscriptions delivery can be found on the Newsstand Subscription Settings page.
