Download and install the Kindle for PC reading app on your Windows personal computer. The Kindle for PC app can be used on personal computers running Windows XP with Service Pack 2+, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.

1. From your Windows personal computer, visit theKindle for PC Instruction Page.
2. Click Download now, and then follow the on-screen instructions to download Kindle for PC.

To buy and read Kindle books, register Kindle for PC to your Amazon account. When you register, you're able to access archived content from the Cloud.

1. From Kindle for PC, click Tools, and then click Options.
2. From the left navigation, click Registration, and then click the Register button.
3. Enter your Amazon account e-mail address and password.
4. Click the Register button. Any Kindle content you own appears under the All Items tab

Purchase books from the Kindle Store with your Amazon 1-Click Payment Method.

1. From your computer, visit Manage Your Kindle. You may need to sign in to your Amazon account.
2. Click Kindle Payment Methods.
3. Under Your Default 1-Click Payment Method, click Edit, and then follow the on-screen instructions to update your payment method.
4. Click Continue to verify your changes.
