What is rich media?

Rich media refers to enhancements on product detail pages--product videos and "virtual tours"--designed to communicate important product information to our customers.

This content is represented by a link on the detail page right under the main product image.

Does Amazon.com create the rich media?

No. While these enhancements are featured on our site, they are created by a number of different companies. Vendaria, NueWeb, and Advanced Method are companies whose content we use regularly.

Why should I use rich media content?

Since our customers can't otherwise interact with the products on our site, rich media provides an opportunity for them to "kick the tires" on a given item. They can see it in use or get a tour of its notable features, much like they could in a physical store. Ideally the information found in rich media will answer any questions customers may have and allow them to make informed purchase decisions.

Which products benefit from rich media?

Products that have innovative or complex features benefit the most. The Bosch 4000-07 Worksite table saw, iRobot Roomba Intelligent Floorvac, Olympus D-490 2 MP digital camera with 3x optical zoom, and Garmin Rino 110 waterproof GPS are great examples of items that benefit from rich media content.
