How do I restart my Kindle?

Frozen screen or problems downloading content? Restarting your Kindle may help (don't worry--this won't remove content). Here's how:

  1. Press and hold the power button on your Kindle device for a full 20 seconds. (For Kindle Keyboard, slide and hold.) Click the timer to count:
  2. Release the power button. You'll see the startup screen. (For Kindle Fire, press the power button again).

If this doesn't help, try charging your Kindle device, checking your wireless connection, and confirming that you have the latest Kindle software update installed.
