The Amazon Kindle Leather Cover with Light incorporates a slide out reading light. The Amazon Kindle Leather Cover with Light only works with Kindle Keyboard devices.

Attaching the cover

To connect the Kindle Leather Cover with Light to your Kindle Keyboard, follow the instructions below (also provided with the cover):

Ensure the attachment hooks are fully inserted into your Kindle. If the gold areas of the attachment hooks are visible, then your Kindle Keyboard is not correctly attached to the cover.

Using the reading light

The reading light is powered by the battery in the Kindle -- no batteries required. The Kindle must be attached to the book cover and powered on for the reading light to work.

1. To activate the light, pull the light head all the way out of the cover until it clicks. The light will come on when it is fully extended.
   
   
2. If the light does not come on or flashes, ensure the Kindle is fully engaged with the two attachment hooks.

Removing the cover

1. Slide the top attachment switch down.
2. Rotate the Kindle away from the center of the cover so that the top switch is removed from the top slot on the left edge of the Kindle.
3. Continue to move the Kindle away from the center of the cover at a slight angle, until the bottom attachment hook is removed from the bottom slot on the left edge of the Kindle.

Attaching the cover

To prepare to attach your Kindle Keyboard to the cover, open the cover and lay it on a flat surface. Then follow these steps illustrated below:

1. Insert the bottom attachment hook on the cover into the bottom slot on the left edge of the Kindle.
2. Rotate the Kindle to insert the top attachment hook.
3. Slide the switch down slightly to lock the cover attachment hooks in place.

Be sure to place the Kindle flat on the cover during the attachment process. Do not tip the Kindle at an angle, as that may cause the cover attachment hooks to bend.

Using your Kindle with the cover

When using your Kindle with the cover, be careful to open the front cover only. If you open the back cover and pull the cover away from the Kindle, that may cause the attachment hooks to bend and could result in cracking or other damage to the Kindle.
