Getting Started with Kindle Fire 1st GenerationBefore you start using your new Kindle Fire, you'll want to connect your device wirelessly, register your device using your Amazon account information, and set up your 1-Click payment method so you can search and shop for books, movies, music, apps, and more. Get ConnectedThe first time you turn on your Kindle Fire, you'll see some simple instructions to guide you through the setup process. First, you'll be directed to connect to a wireless network. Your Kindle Fire is able to connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi and automatically detects nearby Wi-Fi networks that broadcast their network name. You'll connect your Kindle Fire wirelessly through your home Wi-Fi network, or places that offer Wi-Fi access, such as a hotel or your favorite café Tip: Tap the box next to Show password to display your password as you type. Tap the 123!? key to enter numbers or symbols. Tap the ABC key to return to the regular keyboard. Tap the Shift key (up arrow) for uppercase letters.
Once you have successfully connected to a Wi-Fi network, your Kindle Fire will automatically reconnect to it when it detects a signal from that network. Tip: Using your Kindle Fire with wireless turned off will help your battery last longer. 2. Select Your Time ZoneSelect your local time zone, and tap the Continue button. 3. Register Your Kindle
You'll see a welcome screen with your name. Tap Get Started Now. 4. Set Up 1-Click PaymentMake sure you've also set up your 1-Click Payment Method to purchase books, movies, music, apps, and more right from your device. Go to the Kindle Payments Settings section of Manage Your Kindle to edit your payment information.
This payment method will be used for all Kindle and other digital content purchases. 5. Start ShoppingOnce you've connected your Kindle Fire wirelessly, registered your Kindle Fire, and set up your 1-Click Payment Method, you can start shopping for books, movies, music, apps, and more from your device. From the Home screen, tap on content libraries like Newsstand, Books, Music, or Apps from the Home screen, then tap Store to start shopping. To shop for videos, tap Video.
