From your Kindle Fire HD 7", you can play and download music stored in Amazon Cloud Player and shop for MP3s in the Amazon MP3 Store.

Buy Music

From your Kindle Fire HD 7", you can purchase music from the Amazon MP3 Store.

To purchase music from the Amazon MP3 Store on your Kindle Fire, you must have an Amazon account with a valid 1-Click payment method.

  1. From Home, tap Music, and then tap Store. You may be prompted to authorize your device. Learn more: Authorize Your Device
  2. Locate the music you want to buy:
    • In the Search field, type your search terms, and then tap Go.
    • To narrow your search, tap Genres, Bestsellers, or New Releases.
  3. Tap the price button to purchase music. Your purchase is automatically charged to your 1-Click payment method.

After you buy music, it is saved to Amazon Cloud Player and stored in your music library. Tap Library to download or stream your music.

Download & Stream Music

You can download or stream your Amazon Cloud Player music on your Kindle Fire HD 7".

To download or stream music, make sure your Kindle Fire is connected to a wireless network. For more information, go to Check the Status of Your Wireless Connection.

The Cloud tab includes all music in your Amazon Cloud Player. The Device tab displays all music you've downloaded to your Kindle Fire and can be played without a Wi-Fi connection.

  1. From Home, tap Music, and then tap Cloud.
  2. Tap the Playlists, Artists, Albums, Songs, or Genres tabs to locate the songs you want to play:
    • To stream music, tap the song or album.
    • To download music, press and hold the album or song, and then tap Download. After downloading the music, tap the song to begin playing the music. Music downloaded to your Kindle Fire can be played without a wireless network connection.

Import Music to Amazon Cloud Player

You can use the Amazon Music Importer on your computer to transfer your personal music collection to your Kindle Fire HD 7".

Add your compatible music files to your Kindle Fire by importing your personal music collection, including music purchased through iTunes, to Amazon Cloud Player using the Amazon Music Importer on the computer where your music collection is stored.

Restrict Access to Music and Shopping with Parental Controls

Parental Controls allow you to individually restrict access to web browsing, videos, purchases, apps and specific content types, like books or magazines.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to show Quick Settings, and then tap More.
  2. Tap Parental Controls, and then tap On.
  3. Enter a password, confirm, and then tap Finish. Once you've set a password, you can restrict one or more of the following:
    • Web browsing
    • The Email, Contacts, and Calendars apps
    • The ability to purchase from the Amazon Store or Amazon Shop app
    • The ability to play Amazon Instant Video and Prime Instant Video
    • Specific content types (for example, Books or Apps)
    • Wireless connectivity
    • Location-based Services

Add Music from your Computer

You can transfer music stored on your computer to your Kindle Fire HD 7".

The Music library supports the following file types: .mp3, .m4a, .midi, .ogg, .wav, .ac3, .and .eac3. Music with Digital Rights Management (DRM) is not supported.

  1. Connect your Kindle Fire to your computer with a USB cable. Your Kindle Fire will appear in the same location on your computer that external USB drives appear.
    • Windows: Your Kindle Fire will appear in the Computer or My Computer folder.
    • Mac: Your Kindle will appear on the desktop.
    Note: If you've set a Lock Screen Password on your Kindle Fire, you may need to unlock your device before it can be opened on your computer.
  2. Open the Kindle Fire drive, and then select the Internal storage folder.
  3. Locate the Music folder, and then drag and drop your music into the folder.
  4. Disconnect your Kindle Fire from your computer.
  5. From your Kindle Fire, tap Music, and then tap the Device tab to play your music.

Delete Music

After you are finished listening to music, you can remove albums and songs you downloaded to your Kindle Fire HD 7".

Any songs purchased from the Amazon MP3 Store are stored in the Amazon Cloud and can be downloaded to your Kindle Fire again.

  1. From Home, tap Music, and then tap the Device tab.
  2. Press and hold the album you want to remove, and then tap Remove from Device. If you need to delete individual songs from an album, tap the album, press and hold the song you want to remove, and then tap Remove from Device.
