Battery Won't Stay Charged

Your Kindle won't stay charged or takes longer than usual to fully charge.

Try to conserve the battery power by putting your Kindle into sleep mode or turning off your wireless connection when you do not need it. If you are still having trouble, your Kindle may not be fully charged. Try connecting the USB cable to a compatible power adapter to charge your Kindle. Also try using a different USB cable or power adapter to charge your Kindle.

Do you put your Kindle into sleep mode?

Place your Kindle into sleep mode to conserve the battery.

Placing your Kindle into sleep mode when you're finished reading is the best way to conserve the battery.
To put your Kindle into sleep mode, press the Power button at the bottom of the device.

Do you turn off your wireless connection?

Turn off your wireless connection to conserve battery power.

Your Kindle uses more battery power the more often you use a Wi-Fi connection.

  1. From Home, press the Menu button.
  2. Select Settings, and then select turn off next to Airplane Mode.

Do you use a power adapter to charge your Kindle?

Your Kindle may not be fully charged.

Some computers and older keyboards don't provide enough power to fully charge your device.
  1. Plug the USB cable into a power adapter and use an electrical outlet to charge your Kindle.
  2. Charge your Kindle until the light at the bottom turns green.

If your Kindle won't stay charged or takes longer than normal to fully charge, try charging your device with a different USB cable or power adapter.
