Learn more about how you can display and interact with your Fire tablet or Fire phone movies, TV shows, and music on a TV or media streaming device.
Second Screen allows you to send playback of Amazon Video titles from a "small screen" Amazon device to a "big screen" TV or media streaming device. When you use the Second Screen feature, you can continue watching your movies or TV shows even when you want to do something else on your phone or tablet. Your TV will act as the primary screen, while your phone or tablet will act as a remote for playback controls, a customized display for X-Ray so you can learn more about the movie or TV show you’re watching, another way to quickly browse the web, another way to view your e-mail, and more.
When you watch a movie or TV show on your phone or tablet, tap the Second Screen button to send it to your TV or media streaming device.
Note: Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 (4th Generation), Fire HD 8 (5th Generation) and Fire HD 10 (5th Generation) are compatible with display mirroring only on Amazon Fire TV.
Fire phone and certain Fire tablets use display mirroring (also referred to as Miracast), a wireless standard that offers over-the-air display of your screen on your television without the use of an HDMI cable. Any interaction with your Amazon phone or tablet – whether you're swiping through the carousel, watching a movie, browsing the web, or performing another similar activity – is mirrored on the larger screen.
The Amazon Video and Amazon Music applications are available on a variety of mobile devices, televisions, and media streaming devices:
Movies, TV shows, or music purchased on a supported device will subsequently appear on any Amazon Video or Amazon Music application linked to your Amazon account. Using the Amazon Video and Amazon Music applications on other compatible devices does not require an Amazon tablet or phone.
