How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs vary depending on the quantity, type, weight, and size of the items you purchase as well as the number of shipments and the shipping option you choose. For a detailed list of shipping costs, refer to the shipping method links above.

What does "item availability" mean?

Every item in our store has an "availability" status, which simply indicates the amount of time we need to process your order before we can ship the item to you or your gift recipient. You can find this item availability information below the item's price on every product detail page, as well as in your Shopping Cart.

What if my order includes several items with different availabilities?

Unless you choose "Ship as items become available" on our order form, multiple-item orders are held for shipment until all items are available. (For instance, if you order three items, and two have an availability of 24 hours while one has an availability of 2-3 days, your order will ship in 2-3 days.) What about longer availabilities not mentioned above?

Unfortunately, we are not able to guarantee holiday delivery of items with availabilities of 1-2 weeks or longer, or new items that have not yet been released.

What if my order includes items from different merchants, such as an apparel merchant?

Because most of the merchants selling on Amazon.com fulfill and ship their own products, holiday timelines may vary for each. To determine the last day to order an in-stock item for delivery by Christmas, visit the seller's shipping help page by clicking on the seller's name from the product detail page. For items with longer availabilities, add the item availability to the shipping time to determine when the item will arrive.

The availability of each item can be found on its product detail page. Transit times can be found on our Shipping policies page. For example, an item that's available in 1-2 business days and shipped using standard shipping (3-5 business days) will arrive in 4-7 business days. Business days are Monday through Friday.

Put simply, here's the basic equation you can use to determine your delivery date:
(Availability) + (Shipping Time) = Total Delivery Time

As a general guideline, we recommend placing your order by December 13 if you're requesting standard shipping and December 17 for expedited shipping.

What if I'm ordering an oversize item that requires special handling, such as a large toy or a TV?

For products that are extremely large or weigh more than 150 pounds, we note on their product detail pages that special handling is required and that they will ship separately from other items in your order. The shipping charges for these items are indicated on the product detail page. These products will be delivered approximately one week after being shipped from our fulfillment center. The last day to order an oversize item is December 17, for delivery on Wednesday, December 24. Please also note that each shipment of these items requires an adult signature upon delivery, and they can be shipped only within the U.S. Once your order leaves our fulfillment center, you will be contacted by the shipper to arrange a specific time for delivery.

Deadlines, schmeadlines. I'm one of those types who waits until the last minute to do my shopping. What about me?

We have several holiday shipping options to ensure your items are delivered on time, even those items ordered at the last minute (up through Tuesday, December 23). For those customers who still are not finished with their holiday shopping, you can still send a magazine subscription or an Amazon.com gift certificate. Send an e-mail gift certificate or a gift certificate with a holiday e-card--either way it will reach your recipient within minutes!
