Download failed message?

I have had a Kindle Fire HD 7 for three months now. Everything has been working great (except for the frustrating carousel) but for the last three days every time I download a book it gives me a "download failed, no wifi" message. The strange part is that the book DOES download--just the weird message. I have turned it off, restarted and synced it several times--still the same message. Anyone else have that problem?

I'd suggest restarting your device to completely flush out any potential software discrepancies that could be causing this issue. Just follow this process:
1. Be sure to unplug your Kindle from any power source.
2. Hold the power button for a full 20 seconds (Ignoring the Shut Down message).
3. Press the power button again to reboot your device.

After it reboots, make sure it's working as expected. If you're still seeing this issue, come on back to let us know!

Well, I tried exactly what you said and I still get the download failed message BUT the book still downloads. I could live with that but I just want to make sure that all is working well and that it won't stop downloading. Now what?

Update--talked to tech support and never did get them to understand what I was talking about. When I told them that the books do download they said "well, its fixed then" even though I still get the message every time. I just wonder if that means there IS something wrong with it. Anyone else getting these messages?

I'm going through the exact same thing. Only had my fire HD for a week now. Was planning on calling support about it today. Also, when I try to download free narration like on Dracula, it won't allow me, saying the page must be refreshed as the price has changed. The price never changes. There's a new update expected to roll out shortly, so I'm hoping for a fix in that.

Hey lefty, I just got off the phone with kindle support. They had me do a factory reset on my kindle and that resolved the issue. It was no big deal for me as it was pretty much 3 dad out of the box. Sorry if it'll be an inconvenience to you, but it is a working option. Best of luck to you!

Is the factory reset where you hold down the power button for 20 seconds and then restart? If it is, I have done that several times to no avail.

A hard restart is holding down the power button for 20 seconds.

A factory reset is going to 'Device settings', scroll down and tap 'Reset to Factory Defaults'. Then tap Erase everything.
