I would like to transfer my files to a different account.

My husband gave me my Kindle for Christmas and I am getting quite a bit of use out of it. When we registered the device, we used his account therefore he gets all of the email notifications when I download books. Is there anyway to register the kindle and keep all the downloads that we already have?

Thank you.

John - No, you can't register to another account and transfer the books to it. Amazon won't transfer books from one account to another.

Books are 'owned' by the account that was used to purchase them, and cannot be transferred to a different account.

If you have an e-ink Kindle, your downloaded books will remain on the device if you move the registration to another account, but you will not have access to the account archives anymore. If you have a Fire, moving it to a different account will wipe all of the content.

Does your husband also have a Kindle? If so, you might want to leave your Kindle registered to his account so that you can share content. If not, you might want to consider taking over his account. You can change the name, email address, etc. associated with an account. Click the 'Your Account' link at the top of the page, then 'Account Settings'.
