I had this same issue. The cord felt really lose and after 6 months of light-moderate use the light would not come on unless I jiggled it around enough to happen upon a position it liked. I can say that a recurring theme with my Fire since I got it is that it's always seemed a little finicky when it came to charging.

Definitely call Amazon. If you go to the Kindle help center online there are multiple ways to contact customer service. I definitely recommend the "call me" option if it's available.

I called Amazon Customer Service under the "call me" section of the "contact us" after a brief survey about my issue and I was literally speaking to a rep within 1 minute. This was at 5:00 on a Tuesday mind you! I was shocked! I explained the issue and without even the slightest hesitation they started the process to send me a replacement kindle.

This is a known issue and I promise they will help you out.

I am having the same issue. They are sending me a replacement too - but my question now is - won't the replacement have the same problem? It's not like they fixed the charge ports or anything?
