Bookmark won't work

I removed the kindle for pc app last month because it wasn't working and I was frustrated. Every book I tried to read could not be read and I was told to remove it from my device and reload it. Fine, whatever.
BUT I downloaded the app again today (Saturday August 4 2012) and the books are there, I have the same message with almost every book I try to open and (this is new) the bookmark will not work.

I'm frustrated. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You should click on the orange Contact Us button on the right to speak to a Kindle rep.
