I have a Kindle Fire. I am trying to set up my Send to Kindle app. But when I try to register I get "Network error occurred". How do I register so that I can send documents from my PC to my Kindle? Getting frustrated here.

I'm sorry that you are having trouble getting this application registered to your account. You can find detailed inforamtion about registering that app right here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=200768440#register

You'll need to make sure that you have a strong connection to the internet before registering. Also keep in mind that you will use your Amazon.com email address and password, it will be the exact same information that you registered your Kindle with.

After trying these steps, feel free to post back letting us know if this fixed it!

Hi - I'm having exactly the same issues as the above member; none of the material on the link fixes the problem. It doesn't even matter whether the password entered is correct or not, but it still comes back with the same "network error occurred". Could you please advise how this can be rectified? Many thanks.

I'd recommend contacting our Customer Service department so that they can take a deeper look into the issue for you.

You can reach them by using the yellow 'Contact Us' button to the right of this page. Try using the 'Call Me' feature, it's a great way to get in touch with a Kindle Specialist very quickly.

Feel free to post back letting us know how things went!

I just installed/registered SendToKindle on a laptop successfully, but afterwards my desktop failed to register properly. I can sign on to Amazon, so I have the correct password.

I am also trying to register Send to Kindle, on my office PC which lives behind a firewall. While I have no problem signing on to the Amazon website, the Register Send to Kindle function consistently complains about a "network error" - without giving any specifics of what the problem is.

None of the previous posts seem to offer much in the way of resolutions. Any help anyone can offer will be most appreciated!

I was having same issue today, and seeing no real solutions posted as working I'll post mine. After a long chat with an Amazon tech, I was presented with this solution:
1. Open internet explorer and go to the following URL: https://firs-ta-g7g.amazon.com
2. You should see a screen with the message "The webpage cannot be found."
3. Launch Send to Kindle for PC by right clicking on one of the files (pdf, doc, docx) and select Send to Kindle. (*My note* or you can run the installer again)
4. Send to Kindle screen will appear with Register button.
I put in my login info again and it worked this time. Hope this helps someone else

Hi J. Dagg -

I tried your approach, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. I'm not even sure how it *could* work - why should attempting to go to a nonexistent URL solve anything? I'm a software developer (and have been for over 30 years), and I can't think of how this approach would fix the problem.

Did the Amazon tech guy give you any explanation of how his approach was supposed to fix the problem?

Om:

I'd honestly try again in the morning. My bet is that amazons servers might be a bit swamped tonight, and trying again tomorrow might work. If not, I'd contact cs.

Well, *my* universe continues to make sense: I've tried yet again, and this solution does nothing for me at all. I still can't think of any reason why it should! And, needless to say, I still can't use the Send to Kindle feature on this computer.

:-(

I have no idea why j-daggs solution works, but it worked for me, too. Tried it the first time in firefox (my usual browser) and it didn't work, gave it a whirl in explorer . . . and there it was. Registered just fine. I'm with Don, though . . . it makes absolutely no sense. Kind of freaky.

Looks like it may have something to do with SSL certificates based on googling the URL. I did just re-install win7 on this laptop today, too, so I guess that makes some sense. . . still weird.

Hmmm - maybe certificates are the answer. OTOH, the fix definitely doesn't work for me. It would be nice if Amazon could actually make a *real* fix to their program!

Got it working the way described above, but not on the first try. So, here is a sequence:

# close SendToKindle if already open
# open Internet Explorer
# point it to: https://firs-ta-g7g.amazon.com
# launch Send to Kindle
# register

Tried it yet again - multiple times. No joy. Why can't Amazon just fix their program so it'll register without all this hocus-pocus?

This fix worked for me as per Dagg and WMI's sequence after a reinstall of Windows 7 on a new pc - I think that's the key, that I was re-registering Send to kKndle. Though it's weird that it should work via a 404.

Don,

I know your reply is almost 2 months old now, but if you are tracking this thread still... You should contact Customer Service directly; perhaps they can walk you thorough your IE/Internet settings or other security settings on your PC to find what is wrong. To contact CS, click the orange "Contact Us" button on the right side of this page, or use this link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/kindle-help.html

I suggest using the Phone/Call Back (if available from your location) or Chat option. By using the Phone/Call back option, after you send your phone number in, an Amazon Representative will call you back in a minute or two, sometimes sooner.
