according to amazon:

Amazon Prime is a membership program that gives you and your family unlimited fast shipping, such as FREE Two-Day shipping and One-day shipping for $3.99 per item on all eligible purchases for an annual membership fee of $79. Amazon Prime members can enjoy instant videos: unlimited, commercial-free, instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows through Amazon Instant Video at no additional cost. Members who own Kindle devices can also choose from thousands of books -- including more than 100 current and former New York Times Bestsellers -- to borrow and read for free, as frequently as a book a month with no due dates, from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. Eligible customers can try out a membership by starting a free trial.

what it used for?

You must have selected Prime to try it out. After the 30-day trial, if you haven't indicated that you want to stop it, your card will be charged the annual fee. You can still cancel it and get back a pro-rated amount.

It's interesting that your profile says you are in U.S., yet the charge date is tomorrow.

contact customer service - there's a thread at the top of this page on how to do so and have them cancel your subscription and either refund or cancel the payment

I imagine there will be a lot of people who have the same problem - I know I did with a digital magazine subscription and the people at that magazine were totally unhelpful about it

@Juan Lopez: I think that you need to use the large orange Contact Us button to the right to contact Amazon Kindle CS and talk with them about it - use the live chat or the call back feature if you can, not email. If you can't see a Contact Us button on this page, then go to https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/kindle-help.html and contact CS. I advise using Live Chat or the Call Me Back feature and not email, as they will have your account details available to them immediately when you talk with them.

@Edilberto C. Perez: That was the cost of Prime Membership. Read the post above this one to contact Amazon Kindle CS and cancel it.

It means you signed up for a trial of prime, then didn't cancel before the trial ended (which the sign-up told you you would have to do in order to not be charged). So, you (or someone who is able to login to your account) signed up, and agreed to the terms of a trial for prime, then ignored those terms. You can get it refunded, but it's really not their fault.

follow the instructions above to contact customer service.

and you also probably received a lot of foreign dictionaries (guess we'll have to up the value of the dictionaries to around 100 USD if the New Oxford costs that much)
