This is a first. Someone butchering their OWN classic song! Her voice just isnt the same anymore.

I love mariah but her voice is not the same, ok i understand voices age as you get older (elton john's isnt high anymore obviously) but her voice seems to have deterioated over the years somehow, i know it takes alot for her to sing those high notes and she often has to go days without speaking before concerts, use humidifiers etc. Its such a shame if her voice has got lost allong the way, she had such a powerful voice back in 1993 when she recorded this origionally, and i LOVE the live version she did of this and on her daydream tour in 1995, such power and soul. Its like someone watered down her vocal chords. Why do this when the origional and live version (on the cd single of hero) both sufficed? Terrible. I think she needs to fire some 'yes' people in her life. I just wonder if the same has happened to whitney??!

I initially thought the video was made for an SNL skit. It's actually for real. It's hard to believe but she butchered her own song. Congrats!

I don't like it at all! Why can't people just leave a good thing alone! Mariah has to know that this sounds like crap. She is just trying to get some easy money. Dissappointing!

Mariah can still sing circles around any chick making records today...the video may be lame, and the song just as hoaky as it was in '93 but she can still sing live better than most...admitedly her voice is soooo not the same.

MARIAH, MARIAH is the queen of Soul! This is a classic song that everybody likes and I am glad that she revived it with class and mature notes. She is an icon and she does not have to prove herself. She is the VOICE!!! Hope she re-record my all time fave'--- "Love Takes Time"

Elton John had throat surgery back in 1988, that's why his is not the same.

her voice is not like it used to be. and you cant call this live. she's in a studio where her voice is mixed, filtered and she sounds like shes picked up smoking. This video looks like outtakes from just being in a studio and recording a song. Maybe her dog is her hero.

First of all, this isn't in the same key as the original "Hero" (it's a lower key) and that's probably why people think it sounds lackluster. I absolutely love Mariah but the fact of the matter is that she has gotten older and she is WAY past her prime, it's a sad realization that many singers have to cope with... Honestly if you hear the greats (Aretha Franklin, etc.) they don't sound as good anymore. Your vocal chords get old and they change. I still love Mariah, she's the one who inspired me to sing when I was a kid, but this wasn't her best.

What happened to Mariah? She used to have such range, sound, and power to her voice. Now it's just...... I miss Mariah when she was range, sound, and power. She's not that anymore :(
