I was a lower elementary school teacher for over 48 years. When I taught Kdg. & 1st grade students, I read this story every year & they loved it. It was also one of my grandson's favorite books when he was younger.

This lovely book, written by a lovely man is not only my favorite book, but also my daughter's and most of the students and teachers I work with. Eric Carle's work is timeless as well as beautiful. I had the pleasure of meeting the author during a book signing which took place 15 years ago. It was one of the highlights of my life. A real author can do that for you- have an impact on the way you read things, the way you see things. Thank you Mr. Carle!!

What a gift and pleasure to hear Eric Carle's voice! The pleasure he continues to take in writing for children, in the discovery of his own gift of storytelling is quite apparent in the brief video clip. I would love to share that with my students - the voice of this gentle man who shows us you can work with pleasure through your 80's. This story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar was one of my children's favorites, Carle is my daughter-in-law's favorite children's authors, and I am looking forward to sharing these delightful stories with my grandchildren. Not only does Carle celebrate color - he celebrates nature and life. Renate M.
