Definitely worth emphasizing that if you have tried or are interested in Amazon Instant Video that Smart Hub from Samsung does not support it at this time. It's a really big issue since pre-Smart Hub Samsung TVs did support it. The other services are all in there as expected, just not Amazon Instant. Go figure.
Many are hoping this changes soon, and if it does, hopefully someone will come along and delete my post, but right now, a lot of people are disappointed.

I have purchased 8000 series Samsung since while back I saw on my friends TV app for TED Talks. Foolishly I assumed that Amazon Video on demand will be at this point a standard as it was available several years on my old TIVO. Unfortunately my disappointment with this TV sink in after I found out that not only Samsung does not feature app for TED Talks anymore, But does not support Amazon Video On Demand either.
Samsung, its year 2012! Whats the wait??? I think with these prices it should be Samsungs priority to have compatibility with the main video distributors. Why the limitations. Either you want to pride yourself with innovation or you want to wait for Sony or Apple to do it for you? ;)

Completely agree - today they announced the Viacom partnership that jacks up the titles to 15k. SMARTHub needs to support Amazon (or is it Amazon that needs to write an app for SmartHub)?

Amazon just signed a contract with EPIX giving them thousands of additional movies. Samsung upgrade your smart hub to include Amazon instant videos! Don't you care about your customers?

How absolutely lame. How could Samsung drop Amazon Instant Video without some kind of warning or disclaimer. I am a pretty pissed off customer.

I just returned my Samsung Smart TV (UN46ES6150F) and I am able to run Amazon instant video on my Panasonic Viera with no problems. Cost for similar model saved almost fifteen percent too.

Samsung Smart Hub does support Amazon Instant Video. I have used it with my Samsung ES6100 60 inch LED TV today 11/25/2012. I did have to upgrade the firmware software for the TV which was simple download and update to TV. http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000777511

G. E. Thomas says:
The Smart Hub interface is fine, but their NETWORK is terrible. Every company that is now streaming over the internet has their own NETWORK. I had SO MUCH trouble using the Smart Hub with both HULU Plus and NETFLIX instant. Then I found out that ROKU users LOVE their network, AND it supports Amazon (but not YouTube/Google). So, I never use the Smart Hub on my Samsung player any longer, except to download software updates and (try to) watch YouTube. I got my ROKU unit on Amazon for less than $100.00 and it is also wifi + Ethernet compatible.

G. E. Thomas says:
David, I went crazy trying for DAYS to get it to work correctly for me, even when it did "work". I suggest either returning your unit and going with another company who has a better network, or add a ROKU unit and use your internet connection for player software upgrades only.

Just bought the 6100 smart tv (12/28) and all apps (netflix, hulu, etc.) work as expected but Amazon Instant Video, which was automatically downloaded when the software was updated during the setup, loads to a black/blank screen. Nada. Nothing. I hit the return button and go back to the Smart Hub menu. I'd hate for this to be the reason I need to return a TV that I otherwise like. Anyone seen this problem before? I already have a Roko, so don't tell me that I should get one. Thanks.

Shame on Amazon. When I ordered Amazon Prime, I did so because I was going to get access to instant videos. However, they dont tell you upfront that you can not use apple airplay to access the videos you paid for. So, if you want watch these movies you have to do so on a small screen or go buy another piece of hardware...I wish they were more upfront about this, I would NOT have purchased AmazonPrime...

I have a roku (basic) in the den that worked, but I can't find Amazon app on the Samsung player...may have to swap it out. Anyone know if Panasonic blu-ray players have amazon instant video?

Wish I would have looked more into this. Now I am returning it for something that supports amazon instant video. I am mad.

I have the same problem. Was yours ever resolved? My AIV will randomly start working, but once I exit the app and try to get back into it, i get the black screen.

I too am disappointed that I was unable to d/l amazon app from my 2012 Samsung TV or so I thought. I purchased a Samsung home theater from amazon recently and noticed there are two smart hubs, one in the TV and the other is in the blu ray player. After hunting for the app in the br player smart hub, I used the original TV remote, accessed the original smarthub and there it was! I only have to shut down the br player which loses surround sound, then access the menu to redirect sound back to TV speakers. Very happy.....

As of 1/22/13, SmartHub still does not support Amazon instant video. :(

I was having this same problem with the black blank screen and reset the smart hub. Resetting the smart hub forces all the apps to reinstall and after that my Amazon Instant Video app worked.
Reset by opening SmartHub - press tools button - choose settings - choose reset - enter pass code 0000 if needed - enter - accept all disclaimers as smart hub reloads.
