Beautiful. This isn't a song I've enjoyed in the past but this version is lovely. The background is one of the oldest Roman amphitheaters and is in Pula, Croatia. Two Thumbs up... Five Stars!

I saw "Il Divo" perform this song on Oprah on Friday and it brought chills to me. Oprah advertised the new CD for them. I immediately went to Amazon to find it and watched this video. Absolutely AWESOME! I can hardly wait to get my CD in November.

We, too, saw them perform on Oprah and did exactly what you did -- went to to order their cd. We have every other cd of theirs and can't wait for this one to arrive. Sue and Bob K

This is absolutely beautiful!! I love that it was done respectfully as it should be and by respectfully dressed and groomed young men! The bag pipes are awesome and the setting is unbeatable! ...unfortunately there is one annoying problem I have with it. If you truly are a believer in this Amazing Grace of God, you would NEVER sing the last verse "When we've been HERE ten thousand years..." The wording of the original song is: "When we've been THERE 10,000 years..." (speaking of being in Heaven with God). Am I the only one who has noticed this?? Is my hearing accurate?? This was the best verse and, in my mind, quite tainted by the mistaken word since it changes the entire meaning of the verse! To be here 70 or so years is PLENTY! I'm really not up for 10,000 years in this sin-cursed world! I'm gonna be in Heaven for 10,000, 10,000,000 and more years thanks to God's Amazing Grace--and truly then my praising of the Great God of the Universe will have only just begun!! :)

AMAZING. I have seen IL Divo in Phoenix and traveled to Vienna to see them. I own all their music but this is the greatest. Can't wait until I get my CD. They are wondeful.

I heard "here", too. BUT.......There won't be years in heaven, just eternity!!!!!!!

Il Divo is one of our most favorite groups. If they have released it we own it and will own this CD as soon as it is released. I have never heard such a stirring rendition of Amazing Grace. Il Divo has done it again. I do wish they would perform in or near Atlanta so we could see them in person.

I don't think I have ever heard a more beautiful rendition of this hymn...The addition of the bagpipes made me weep like I haven't wept in years!!! I think that I cried for anyone who has ever lost a loved one ever.....I thought of our fireman, policeman and soldiers and anyone who so unselfishly gave up their lives...not to say, that the rest of us that have lost someone don't count... its just that they don't play bagpipes for them...and bagpipes, to me anyway, make a very melancholy haunting sound.......i too will buy this cd if only for this one song...

Oh really? I thought it was the Colliseum in Italy. I was there a few years ago, and could have sworn it was the same place. Yes, I love the song, and them too!

My favorite song in the entire world, one day after coming home from work, I turned on the TV and saw that Oprah was recording on my DVR, which I never set to record. So I sat to watch it. Then came IL DIVO, singing, "Amazing Grace" when all of a sudden a bagpiper starts to play. My mouth dropped open and I watched in amazement. Then my fiancee' came home and I asked if he had taped Oprah, his answer was, "no, are you kidding me?". Now this doesn't seem to be of importance to anyone else, but to us, it seems a sign. At our wedding we will be having a bagpiper play, I wanted to fit into the ceremony, "Amazing Grace" in honor of my grandmothers and father who are no longer with us. Sometimes I feel as though someone if not Oprah herself is tapping me on the shoulder!!! I loved this rendition and now have found what I am looking for!! I am sold on IL DIVO!! And have passed the video on to many of my friends. ALL ENJOY!!!

Yes, you heard right. They did say 'here' and not 'there'. It does change the context of the verse. I looked it up in an old hymn book copyrighted 1951. You are right. Maybe they didn't understand the old English phrasing and changed it. But then I also looked it up in the Purple color, Methodist Hymnal copyright 1966. In there that verse is eliminated and 2 new ones are substituted. They read. 4. "The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures; He will my shield and portion be, As long as life endures. 5. "Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace." Both hymn books give credit to John Newton, 1725-1807 as the author and the music as an "Early American Melody". As usual, Ildivo gives a hauntingly beautiful rendition! They seem to be able to cause spontaneous eruptions of deep emotions in women of all ages with evidence of crying, chills, and goose bumps. They remind me of a male version of the Greek Mythology Sirens. Yet I think they too, are as surprised at the emotional response. I guess it is their perfection, the beauty of their harmony. Somehow it brings up from the depths and recesses of our being emotional pain without even understanding the words of their non-English songs. I'm struggling to put it into words. It probably is a combination of elements for each individual but what is the core? It is universal. It transcends language. It boils down to the unique sound. I wish they would make an all Old Hymn CD in ENGLISH. HEY GUYS DID YOU HEAR THAT?

There is NO way someone could truly listen to that beautiful rendition of this great song, and not believe in our wonderful and forgiving God!
