428pp, 234 tritone illustrations. Text in English and Japanese. Designed by Alexander Gelman, Design Machine. "In 1971, Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama took a trip to New York City with Tadanori Yokoo. He stayed at the Chelsea Hotel and spent his days in The Museum of Modern Art Photography Study Center looking at pictures taken by Weegee. He shot one hundred rolls of film with a half-frame camera, yielding seventy images per roll. Some of those pictures are presented here". "'71 - NY" is an elegant production in terms of both the book's design and the quality of its reproductions of Daido's imagery. It includes a facsimile and English translation of a letter from Moriyama, an interview with the photographer, as well as excerpted passages from James Baldwin's "Another Country". A brand new, most handsome example (cited on pages 396-397 of The Hasselblad Center's "The Open Book") in the publisher's still shrinkwrapped printed cardboard slipcase, as issued. Ships promptly & well-packed. Art & photography book specialists with an open shop for 30 years! Overseas shipping available. DAIDO MORIYAMA: '71 - NY. New York: PPP Editions, 2002. First Edition. Stout 8vo. Wrappers in Printed Slipcase. Fine./Fine.. 0-9670774-9-4. Please read our full description and ask any questions before placing your order!
