How do I use a PayPhrase?
Your PayPhrase is unique
No two PayPhrases are the same, so choose a PayPhrase that's easy for you to remember – it can be as creative or simple as you'd like. You can create an original PayPhrase yourself, or select one of our suggestions.
Each PayPhrase is two or more words, and the entire phrase must be at least four or more characters. We'll check availability for you as you create your PayPhrase. No digits or special characters are allowed. A PayPhrase can be up to 100 characters in length.
PayPhrase Tip: When you set up your first PayPhrase, choose the shipping address and payment method you most commonly use to buy at Amazon. Your first PayPhrase will be your default PayPhrase on future visits to Amazon.com.
Setup takes seconds
Amazon PayPhrase uses information already stored in your Amazon.com account. Simply select your unique phrase, create your 4-digit PIN, and sign in. Confirm which shipping address and credit or debit card are assigned to your PayPhrase, and setup is complete.
You don't need to sign in to buy using PayPhrase – you only need your PayPhrase and PIN.
PayPhrase Tip: Create multiple PayPhrases using other shipping addresses and credit or debit cards you store on-file with Amazon.
Parental Controls for Teens and Students
Each PayPhrase can be configured with additional controls, including monthly spending limits and e-mail alerts.
Using PayPhrase controls, let others checkout using the credit or debit card and shipping address you specify for that PayPhrase. For instance, create PayPhrases for teens or college students to shop online with parental controls. Set a monthly spending limit, and decide if you want unspent funds to roll over each month. You may also choose to review and approve every order for a given PayPhrase by e-mail or text message.
PayPhrase Tip: While at Amazon.com, type the word "info" into any PayPhrase button to review orders for any individual PayPhrase and to see allowance activity and balance.
Using PayPhrase at Work
To allow multiple individuals at your office to place orders on a single account, utilize PayPhrase for purchase delegation. PayPhrase is a payment solution for any workplace – and a great way to keep your budget on track. Instead of typing in or even storing credit card information and a shipping address, using the PayPhrase you’ve established and a secure 4-digit PIN, members of your team can get what they need within a pre-determined budget you set. To get started, create a PayPhrase and 4-digit PIN for secure access to a common payment method and default shipping address associated with the Amazon account used for office shopping. Access the ‘Optional Settings’ to establish monthly spending limits, decide whether to allow unspent funds to roll over to the next month, and set approval preferences. If you prefer, you can also choose to review and approve each order placed via e-mail or text message. You can change the settings anytime by going to Your Account and clicking "Manage PayPhrases." Click here to create PayPhrases for your office needs.
PayPhrase Tip: While at Amazon.com, type the word "info" into any PayPhrase button to review orders for any individual PayPhrase and to see allowance activity and balance.
Simple to manage
While at Amazon.com, you can access all your PayPhrases from the "Your PayPhrases" link beneath any PayPhrase button – the link will appear whenever you are recognized as a return visitor at Amazon.com. This gives you a shortcut to see every PayPhrase under your account. Additionally, manage your PayPhrase settings and review orders placed with your PayPhrase at any time by visiting http://www.amazonpayments.com/payphrase.
PayPhrase Tip: After clicking the "Your PayPhrases" link, click any PayPhrase in the dropdown list to immediately place that phrase into the PayPhrase button.
