Since Amazon has expanded the amount of albums you can put on a Listmania list, I'll be periodically updating all of mine from '86 to '05. Some of them haven't been updated since '04 anyway.

Me: 31 year old music fanatic and hip hop junkie. I've been into rap music since 1985 and I've been a DJ since 1994. I listen to mainstream & underground and just about any other form of rap music. I try not to limit my tastes or what I'll allow myself to listen to.

My reviews are from albums that I recently purchased or they're randomly selected from my personal library. My album collection has reached over 8,025 (and rapidly growing) -- 98% of which is hip hop (I hope to have reviews for them all at some point). I hope my reviews are of some assistance.
Peace.

This book covers practically every step from start to finish for anyone looking to get their music from the infancy stage to the demo stage and up to a professionally done album. If you have any knowledge whatsoever, I suspect that this book would only be worth a skim. I'm a newbie in that respect and I still found that the book meanders quite a bit and sometimes you find yourself complete off course in certain sections. Overall, though, it was highly informative and provided some insights that I found useful. Just don't expect it to move at a break neck speed. I do recommend checking it out. No stone was left unturned, in my humble opinion.
This is Maxwell at peak performance. The BLACKsummers'night album is equally impressive as well. I highly recommend buying this single if albums aren't your cup of tea but, again, if you know anything about Maxwell's pedigree, then you know that the album is just as good.

I wasn't familiar with K'naan's debut LP when Troubador came out, so I can't really use it to grade against this album like others have. Some like the 1st album more, but I'm feelin' this album more. That's not hard to do when you have great production throughout. "ABC's" features a dope verse from Chubb Rock (where the heck has he been anyway?) over a hectic beat that K'naan effortlessly navigates. "Dreamer" flows along the same lines as "ABC's" but with a funky, funky drum pattern that is sure to get heads nodding. I'm not really sure why (probably because it screams "poorly done pop" at me), but I love "Bang Bang" even though everything in me says I shouldn't. Some say that the… Read more
Strictly proper studio releases that I've heard. If it isn't on the list, I haven't heard it, so stay tuned for updates as I come across more material.
2004 was a good year for rap music and these are the songs that I felt the most during the past year. They aren't listed in any particular order and they weren't neccesarily released as singles by the artist. They were just joints that I was really feeling. And they are:
1) "B-Boy&hellip Read more
