I purchased two for my home, one for the front door and one for the door between the garage and house. I first attacked the garage door. Upon opening the box, the contents had fingerprints on it and some pieces were not secured inside the box. The manuals are odd to say the least. It looks as if the installation and user manual were designed and printed by two separate companies. The installation instructions were Ikea-like however, they seemed to skip a few points which led to some confusion. About 15 mins in I had the garage lock installed. As i tried to follow the instructions to wake the fob and begin calibration i could not get the lock to light up when i tapped it. I soon found that if i hit it with some force, it would then light up. I then disassembled and re-assembled it (2 more times) before giving up. I then moved onto the front door with hope that it may have been just a bug in that unit.
The front door unit went on much faster now that i no longer needed the instructions. This one worked great, had it up and running, calibrated with fob and phone in only about 10 mins.
I was convinced that the garage lock was broken, however, when looking at the troubleshooting guide online, i noticed that it had a tamper-mode that would be activated if it thought someone was attacking the lock. I then gave it another shot and sure enough the garage lock worked normally once it had reset.
The calibration process for the front door was easy, however the garage door is about three steps up from the garage floor and there is no landing. As the instructions say, you may need to take the phone or fob out and hold it up to lock height when calibrating if you are not at "lock level".
The packaging and instructions could use some polish. Quality-wise, the set is acceptable given the feature set. As for security, I have had smart-key locks on my house for a few years. While I have seen the numerous videos about how easy it may be to bypass with some tools, I also have a large number of windows that would be much easier to bypass with a swift kick or rock.
Most belts have at least one tapered end, this helps thread the belt through the belt loops on your pants. This belt has two interlocking ends that are both wider than the already wide belt itself. Threading the belt through the loops requires angling the end and twisting the loop to push it through. This makes the time it takes to put the belt on take about 10x longer than usual. While there is some benefit to a flat buckle, this particular flaw has earned this product a spot in the trash can....Read more
I have been on the hunt for the perfect stand for my iPhone for years. For the last two years i have used an Element Case on my iPhone and have always struggled to find a dock that would have the connecter in the correct position (used middle sleeve for perfect fit). Even the dock made by the same company as my case is no match for this and this is less than half the price.
The packaging is high quality and the parts are well organized and instructions are clear. This thing looks and feels high quality and is obviously well thought out. Only took 5 minutes to put together and customize for the connector height and case back. The phone easily slides onto the connector and is very sturdy in the dock. It is on my nightstand and the elevation puts it at the perfect height for me. Money well spent, ordered another just now.
I wanted an easy-to-use cover that was not an easily misplaced plastic disc. I use this size on my SEL55210 and SEL24F18Z over the stock lens hood and it fits nice and snug, I would suggest the addition of small tabs to make it slightly easier to put on....Read more
I was looking for a modern looking lamp for my nightstands to fit my gadget-happy lifestyle. This lamp fits in more than i thought. While it looks awesome, the center cavity is a dust magnet and is a very visible area. Also, the touch controls are horrid at best. It is a new experience to be yelling at a lamp, but it will happen after you try to dim this lamp only to keep accidentally shutting it off instead. It would take away slightly from the sleek look, but adding a simple slider or knob control to this would make it much more useful and awesome.
One of the lamps now will not turn on, now useless.
This is my fourth chair I have tried for my workshop. I use it for about 3-4 hours a day. The cushion is definitely an improvement from the other three however, it does feel slightly stiff and shallow. The back of the chair is also reclined at a slight angle and I have as of yet found any way to adjust this, this leads me to have a non-optimal posture but for 3-4 hours I can deal with it....Read more
In the search for a rocker for your nursery you will undoubtedly find out that like many things, there are price brackets. There are ~$200 rockers, ~$500 rockers, and ~$1000 rockers. Almost every $200 rocker i found had the same flaw, a lack of quality that would result in failure in around 6 months. While this may be acceptable to some for limited use, I would rather have a quality piece that would stand up to some abuse and at least get a few years out of it (not expecting heirloom quality at this price). This particular product family seems to have been designed with day care centers in mind, this is obvious from the closed base. This model does not swivel, only glides, which was great for my application. The wood used is not the best quality and the seat covers cannot be removed from padding to be washed, but these are very small gripes for a high quality rocker....Read more
I've gone through a massive number of hubs trying to find one that could power 2.5 drives and also charge an iDevice. This hub not only performs flawlessly, but it looks and feels like a quality piece of hardware. Obviously the price point is a factor, but other hubs are getting close to this cost without even touching this one on quality. If you are struggling to find a USB2/3 hub that will end your search, this is it....Read more
