They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. In that case, I will stop short of imitating New Zealand reviewer Peter Hoogenboom, but I must flatter him at least a little. I heard talk of Fargo's brilliance for years. When I finally found an opportunity to watch it, I was expecting a lot. The Electra Glide in Blue-like opening of a car materializing from out of the distance, set to orchestral music ("Fargo, North Dakota"), sated my expectations. Sadly, I was to go hungry from then on. I have no complaints with the individual acting, the possible exception being Frances McDormand's camp performance. On the other hand, William H. Macy deserved the Oscar that year, even over Cuba Gooding Jr. But as a complete piece, I found Fargo lacking, even after a second viewing. I suppose the weak story… Read more

Not good as a reading light. Not good as a task light. I won't ding this light for being bad at something it wasn't designed for. But I would be remiss if I didn't mention its very limited usefulness for anyone hoping to get double-duty out of this purchase. I also won't downgrade the rating because of the (very high) price, but in my opinion, this is not good value at close to the $88.40 list price, even if you love the concept. It looks cool in a futuristic sort of way, certainly different than any other table lamp I have ever had. It also looks exceedingly fragile, although to be fair, it hasn't broken yet.
