I started telling stories when I was very young and often got in trouble for "embellishing" or "overdoing" or even (dare I say it!) "making stuff up", which is just next door to a lie.

Writing down the stories that hopped and skipped around in my imagination never seemed like a valuable use of my time until after I was married. My perceptive husband sent me to my first writer's conference almost thirty years ago before our two children were born. He encouraged me to keep going and now twenty-three years after the publication of my first book, I'm still writing.

Never underestimate the power of someone who loves you and believes in you.
