We love children's stories especially those that have a valuable lesson to be learned. So when The Boy Who Changed The World arrived, I was quick to open and read it to my children. The story was one that even my four year old son was enjoyed and took meaning from. It is a tale of how even the simplest action carries a reaction, the butterfly effect. I found it to be a creative way to lightly speak about God and how our good deeds are rewarded with blessings in the future.
My children ask for this book at night time now. They now talk of how they will change the world. My oldest has began to discuss how she will be an animal doctor and get them well. Then they can make the elderly and young happy and be their friends. This alone lets me know that they are learning a powerful message from The Boy Who Changed The World.
This is a lovely story to introduce your young children to the butterfly effect. I know that we all have something that we can learn from this. Just imagine the possibilities of a child that knows he can change the world too.
This is a wonderful little gift book that will introduce you to current and past leaders such as Nelson Mandela, Eric Liddell, Harriet Tubman, as well as Noah, Moses, Abraham, Joesph, Nehemiah and Paul. Some of my favourite quotes from the book include:
"Courage teaches us what should be feared and what ought not to be feared. Only by taking action do we gain that knowledge. And from that knowledge comes an inner strength that inspires us to persevere in the face of great adversity - and inspires others to follow. In the most difficult of times, courage is what makes someone a leader" John C. Maxwell
"The true measure of your character is what you would do if you were sure no one would ever find out" (John C. Maxwell)
"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever the cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost" (Arthur Ashe)
These are just a few of the wonderful quotes found in Maxwell's book. This book will be encouraging whether you are a stay at home mom, like me, or the CEO of a big name company. You will not only learn principles of leadership from Maxwell, but you will see these principles lived out loud.
This book is a perfect gift idea for any leader in your life, and I highly recommend it!
Raising A Modern Day Princess was a wonderful book that will show both moms and dads how to celebrate your daughter as a gift from God. I loved how well organized this book was, as well it is very easy and quick to read.
When reading Raising a Modern Day Princess you will discover the following:
* wonderful ideas and examples for finding a mentor for your daughter as she transitions into young womanhood,
* celebrating your daughter through a Princess Party,
* the importance of words on your daughter's life,
* teaching your daughter lessons about Godly character traits,
* the importance of true friendship, and pursuing knowledge, and,
* etiquette and makeup,
* defining a man of integrity,
* her spiritual life (including faith versus feelings)
This book is one that ALL Christian parents should read if you have a daughter. Becoming a young woman is a very special time, and celebrating your daughter in such a fantastic way is a wonderful way to make a super memory with your daughter and start her journey on the right foot! There is advice in this book for both moms and dads and you will be blessed as you read this book.
Baby Elliot was born on March 25, 2010. What an amazing day that was. Three days later our healthy bundle of joy came home with his proud parents. All seemed peaceful and quiet till his first bath came the day of the official belly button. That bath and everyone until recently was full of screaming and crying from both me and baby El'. He just did not like being in the baby tub. He hated it no matter wither we were on the floor, on the table or even in our bedroom. We tried everything and every time of the day. Honestly nothing worked for us until day one with the The Original Tummy Tub Baby Bath - Blue.
This is the video from Elliot's first experience in the TummyTub. Now the only one who looks nervous here is mom. He looks a little confused at first but not one tear. He never even shows any signs of stress or discomfort. From the moment he is lowered into the tub, he seemed relaxed and sound. I was allowed to wash him and even his hair without any problems.
In my days as a child, I remember having Alvin and the Chipmunks on vinyl. For the younger generation that means a record. I can see me now dancing and signing away. I loved every minute of it. My memories of them is what lead me to purchase this DVD in the beginning. Now I can share the same fun experience with our children. Yes, they to get up and dance to the Chipmunk beat.
I love the modern makeover from the classic Alvin to the hip character he has become. All three of the chipmunks were well cast in voices. The animation fit in perfectly with the surrounds of the film. All in all I will say I found it to be well written and fun to watch for all age groups.
Alvin and the Chipmunks is a weekly watch in our home and truth to be told, we do not mind at all.
