mediocre.
So, the thing thatbugs me most about this book is the over-the-top level of the a apocalypse. The flashbacks make it look a nuclear war of some sort. But if its on the scale portrayed, with a lot of (immediate) survivors, then the level of desolation/nuclear winter is wrong. That is one thing Jericho has gotten pretty right - a nuclear war could be pretty devastating to infrastructure, but its not going to magically kill all the plants and animals, leaving a lot of people around to eat each other etc. The same goes for a plague or any other apocalypse that come to mind.
