In high school I took creative writing classes and fell in love with writing poetry. I've taught art in the public schools for over twenty years - first in New York, and now in western Massachusetts, where I live with my partner and two spoiled cats. I began writing for teens and tweens over ten years ago and have two published novels, BABY BLUE (Henry Holt, 2004) and ITCH (Henry Holt, 2008), which is also available as an audiobook (Recorded Books, 2008). My third novel, a YA/Adult cross-over novel, will release in fall 2009 from Chronicle Books. As a writer, I always root for the underdog and feel a satisfaction in giving a voice to the voice-less.
