Clarke has written an incredible story that combines fantasy fiction with what feels like 19th century literature. Fans of either genre should very much enjoy this book.
One of the best things about "Strange" is that the author took her time in unraveling the tale for her readers. Sure, the basic story could have been covered in 250 pages, and many authors would have chosen to do so. But at best, that could have only produced a book that was good. Readers of such an abbreviated version would not have realized it, but they would have been short-changed. Instead, Clarke wanted to emerse readers in 19th century life and magic.
