I must also confess to being a tool and kitchen gadget 'junkie'. I love tools of all kind, and regularly follow tool innovations and new tools being offered, even if I can't afford to buy them! If you notice that most of the things I review get good ratings, it is because I am an extremely careful shopper who does his homework before buying. I have purchased only a few 'duds' along the way though. Rest assured I will tell it like it is in my reviews. Feel free to drop me a line or ask questions about any of my reviews.
I listen to a lot of music and podcasts via my iPod Touch. I tend to do this at the gym, on a treadmill or elliptical machine, but sometimes when traveling I use these to watch video or listen to music on my Ipod. Every pair of headphones I had tried in the past failed me in some unforgivable way, such as not providing enough bass and not fitting my ear comfortably. I really like these Meelec earbuds because they provide a truly unprecedented amount of bass in the music as well as some cool features like adjusting the volume by the controller on the cord. Overall I would say that these are super quality head phones at a decent price....Read more
I got this trap to capture and relocate a skunk that had taken up residence under my front porch. On the good side of things, it doesn't kill the trapped animal and it does what it is supposed to do as expected. On the downside, it is a bait trap, so it is easy to attract and trap animals unintentionally. In the week leading up to actually capturing my skunk, I caught one to two rabbits per night. I eventually awoke one morning to see the skunk inside though. I had previously tied about 20 feet of rope to the cage, so I could drag the whole cage with skunk inside to a woods about two blocks from my hose and then release it without getting sprayed. I then hurried home and plugged up the hole that was being used to access the space under my porch. Problem solved! Mr. Skunk has not been back!...Read more
I ship fragile items through UPS about once per month. In the past, UPS managed to break my shipped items 1-2 times per year. Ever since applying this "fragile" tape on my boxes I have not had any further issues. The tape is very sticky and holds well once applied. The only downside is that this tape is very very thin, thus care must be taken to avoid letting it stick to itself or crumple up in any way or you will end up wasting some. Overall it's a great product though, and I will keep buying it even after this first roll runs out....Read more
My wife has been using this cord in her car for a couple months now to connect an MP3 player to her in-dash car stereo system. For this purpose this cord has performed flawlessly. The flat cord design resists kinking/tangling and there have not been any sound performance issues. Highly recommended....Read more
I will preface my review by saying that I love listening to music (and TV and movies) through head phones. I will also say that I am not an over the top audiophile. I never owned a reel to reel tape player. I consider good quality digital recordings with a nice equalized sound to be good enough.
I like the clear sound and the removal of other background noise that is achieved by wearing these headphones. The sound quality is quite good (again disclaimer - that's coming from me not a sound geek) and I find these to be very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I also really appreciate how these can fold down to a fairly small size as compared to how large they are when worn. The volume control on the cord is a nice extra touch that I find myself using all the time.
Overall I consider these to be a perfect pair of headphones to wear while watching something on a tablet or listening to something on an MP3 player in a room where others don't want to hear what you hear.
I got this device mainly to use at work as a sort of temporary / impromptu security camera (I work in a public library). Before taking it to work though, I played with it around my home to see how it would do in a residential house.
The users manual was almost comically small and useless when it came to learning the various functions of this device. Fortunately, it is pretty simple to figure out if you are comfortable with menus and how most electronic devices operate. I was also able to find a users manual PDF on the manufacturers website.
Anyway, I found this to be easy to turn on, and to control/change camera angle form another room. The picture clarity is pretty good. I thought the sound quality was less than the video quality, but I sort of expected that.
I did notice that between the camera itself and the hand held monitor, this product seems to have a better horizontal range than a vertical one. By that I mean, I had no problem getting and keeping a signal if the hand held monitor and the camera were on the same floor of my house, but when I left the camera upstairs and went downstairs with the monitor I soon found myself losing the signal.
At work, where I originally intended to use this device, the distance between camera and monitor is all horizontal, same-floor distance so that has not been a big issue.
Overall I think this is an ingenious product that is pretty well executed for the price, I just wish there was a better manual included in the box and that the range was better between floors of my house.
I have been using this shaver off and on for several months, to shave both my face (daily) and my head (1-2 times weekly).
On the plus side of things: It does a solid job of cutting whiskers, the floating / swivel head is a big plus, and it is pretty easy to clean out after each use. It also charges fairly quickly and holds a charge for a good amount of time.
As for the downsides, it is loud and uncomfortable to use. The vibration on this shaver is really just too much, and whether I am shaving my face or my head with it, every time it passes over bone (jawbone, cheekbone, etc), it rattles my skull. This is not pleasant.
Overall its a decent shaver, but there are far better ones out there on the market right now.
My wife and I have wished for another shelf in the shower, but because if how the corner of the tub surround is constructed, and because I didn't want to drill any holes in the fiberglass, we went without. After ordering and receiving this shelf, installation took maybe 30 seconds. I then proceeded to load bath products on, a little at a time at first, to see if this thing would come crashing down. It has now been up for a couple months and it shows no signs of falling off the wall. Very well designed, easy to install product that gives a nice bit of extra storage space in our fiberglass shower. Highly recommended....Read more
This little stapler feels sort of cheap in your hand, but it does exactly what it is supposed to and does it very well. There is a surprising amount of power evident when each staple is driven home, yet the effort required by the user is very minimal. Highly recommended....Read more
I find a lot of uses for this stuff around the house. It of course excels at its intended purpose (masking edges while painting) but it also works well as an alternative to duct tape when you want to simply secure a plastic painter's tarp, hang a note on the wall, label something temporarily, or attach anything light to something else in a manner that will not leave a mark or sticky residue. This tape is sticky enough to do its job without being gummy. Highly recommended!...Read more
