Well, well, well...what to say about Libba Bray's young adult novel, Beauty Queens? Tongue-in-cheek? Check. Laugh out loud at times? Check. Teens learning to be themselves? Check. Over the top? CHECK. Different? Oh, heck yeah, CHECK. Interesting? To say the least...check, check, check.

I first picked this novel up back in August and it didn't click at all. It's ten years on and Gus now has a young child when her husband Eli dies unexpectedly of a mystery illness… Read more

The Belkin Essential Case for Apple iPod Touch caught my eye first because of its interesting design and also because it's a soft case (which I currently don't have). However, it hardly made it through the door before my daughter saw it and laid claim for her new iPod. She loves the design first, but it is also flexible and not likely to scratch with repeated use. Since she has had it for over a week now, her praise has only grown--she claims her friends also love its unique design. My only concerns are that I am not sure how it will hold up over time since it does not seem to be particularly durable, and the fit is not quite as snug as I'd hoped. But overall we are both pleased...well, at… Read more
