Born 1934, Allentown PA, U.S.A. Escaped to New York City at age 18, worked as an assistant to photographer Richard Avedon. Served in the U.S. Army Security Agency from early 1957 until the end of 1959, stationed in Tokyo, Japan. Returned to New York, became studio manager for Avedon. Returned to New York, became studio manager for Avedon. In 1965 I and a partner opened a commercial photo studio in New York, doing advertising, magazine, travel, and album cover photography. Began a writing career in 1982 with "Daytrips from London," followed by several other similar travel guides. I now reside in the suburbs of Philadelphia, but visit New York as often as possible.
