Welcome to The Rebecca Review. I have been reviewing since April 3, 2000 and write a few reviews each day or whenever an item of high interest appears in my life. I am mainly interested in items to enhance our experience on this planet, so I would consider myself to be "a lifestyle reviewer." I review about 180 books a year.

I live in Washington State with my husband and our three baby cats, Sasha, Meesa and Bear. I have a Master's degree in Educational Administration. I majored in Elementary Education and really enjoyed my Psychology minor, which seems to be finally paying off as my interest in Psychology expands. I was born in Illinois, grew up in Africa as a child and spent some of my time in Florida and Seattle, WA.
When I'm not reviewing as a hobby I'm working on my ever expanding website, creating recipes or researching health and healing topics, which I enjoy. I am also the author of "Seasoned with Love: A collection of best-loved recipes inspired by over 40 cultures."

Some people ask me why I don't charge to review. I feel I'm providing a service to consumers that is spiritually rewarding. Reviewing literally makes me happy on a daily basis.
If you enjoy my reviews and find them helpful, please join me in supporting World Vision. You can read about the site and child sponsorship by visiting www.worldvision.org
Thank you to all the authors, reviewers and readers who have supported this cause for good in the world.

If you read a book and you come away with one new insight that you can apply to your life then I think it is well worth the time reading. While this book gets off to a bumpy start it eventually forms a sense of continuity. The ideas of Mary and Jonathan somehow coalesce into a meaningful discussion of life as we know it and how we would like it to be.
Since much of our suffering is self-inflicted Mary describes it beautifully as how we "govern the weather of our hearts." We truly do have the choice to be happy or unhappy so why not choose the former? With that… Read more
I originally purchased these unsweetened baking chips for recipes that use stevia as a sweetener. I ended up using them in a recipe that called for four ounces of unsweetened chocolate and they were much easier to weigh than regular baking chocolate. With the chips there is no need to chop chocolate from a block. You simply weigh the chips and you are done with the job. While it is true that they taste terrible on their own they work very well in recipes that call for unsweetened chocolate. I used them in a recipe from PICNIC: 125 Recipes with 29 Seasonal Menus and made a delicious chocolate… Read more
Imagine giving up chocolate for an entire month. Would you have enough willpower to stick to your decision? In "Give It Up!" Mary Carlomagno not only gives up chocolate for a month she gives up alcohol, shopping, elevators, the newspaper, cable TV, cell phones, shopping, taxis, coffee, multitasking and cursing.
By giving up one item a month she learns about the motivations behind our "addictions." Mary Carlomagno has some interesting thoughts on why people drink and lists all the places where drinking is expected. She takes the stairs even when her office is on the tenth floor. She reads poetry instead of the morning paper. She almost has a nervous breakdown when she stops… Read more

Getting sick can be a real hassle. You miss days at work and feel terrible even once you’ve returned. Sometimes a cold can drag on for two weeks if you don’t nip it in the bud. I’ve been sick numerous times over the years but normally I only get sick once a year. This year I got sick twice in a&hellip Read more
Just because you don’t feel in love today doesn’t mean that in six months or a year you are not going to fall madly in love with your partner again. I used to think that if you just found the right person, life would be perfect.
I’ve since learned that you take yourself everywhere you go and&hellip Read more
