In My Own Words:
Pateley Bridge will always have special meaning for me and my love of literature. Reading is a very private endeavor. Amazon provides a wonderful outlet for those of us who want to share our thoughts with significant others but for various reasons can only do it through writing.

Interests
Retired military physician. Until recently, most of my reading was related to college studies (biology, chemistry), and medicine. Now much more interested in literature and the biographies of novelists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely outstanding., October 19, 2009

Both Behe and I agree with "common descent," but both of us disagree that random mutation can explain all we see in evolution. My background is a biology/chemistry major with an advanced degree. My favorite author has always been Stephen Jay Gould, but Michael Behe raises some very thought-provoking questions.

Along the way, every famous and every obscure writer you can imagine is mentioned. It is so much fun to run across the name of an author or a book that one has read and enjoyed, knowing that others have had the same experience and reaction.

This is the kind of book you can really open anywhere and start reading. I have completed it once, and am re-reading it now. Upon re-reading, I think the highlight was to see Sylvia Plath's name in the book. Often forgotten in anthologies like this, she was… Read more
