It's only been a few days since I met Tricia Currans-Sheehan at the Orange City Tulip Festival Author's Corner, but now that I have read her book, "The River Road," she is not an author that I will forget any time soon!
The story is told in a series of connected short stories that weave a dark, and often tragic, tale of a young girl growing-up motherless in a dying Iowa town.
Normally this is not the type of tale that would capture my interest, but the author uses such wonder language to illustrate the stores that you just can't put the book down for very long.
Tricia is scheduled for a book reading about 30 miles from my home on June 30th -- I plan… Read more

If you are an entrepreneur and want to purchase a book that will help you better focus your thinking, time and energy, you'll want to read this book. As a matter of fact, you'll want to read it, follow the author's suggestions, and then keep referring back to it on a regular basis.

While the theme of the cookbook is focused on boaters, weekend cruisers and other travelers, the recipes are just as good when prepared by the home cook who wants to save time and clean just one pot.
The spiral binding makes the cookbook easy to place on the counter, be it a boat, ship or home kitchen counter. It's 9.5 x 7.2 page size made it possible for the author to type the recipes in a larger font, which makes reading the recipes easy on the eyes!
Recipes featured in the cook book focus on beef, chicken, fish, pork, vegetarian, breads and desserts. I tried the Barbecued Chicken in a Pot (page 24) yesterday, because I'd just brought my husband home from the… Read more

I compiled a unique Iowa cookbook filled with recipes using Iowa produced ingredients, and it is, of course, at the top of my gift giving idea list!
I specialize in writing about B&Bs and the bed and breakfast experience. In addition to authoring one guidebook on opening a B&B and co-authoring two others, I'm also a regular contributor to various magazines, and have written on cookbook featuring recipes from Iowa.
