Death Star (Star Wars) by Steve Perry
Death Star (Star Wars) by Steve Perry
4.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectantly Enjoyable, December 8, 2008
I wasn't sure what to think about Death Star, but Reaves and Perry do an excellent job fleshing out this unique battle station and explaining gaps in the movie too. The biggest issue I have is some confusion as to the timeline of the book. I also liked how the authors were bringing back various characters from their other series. Always interesting to see. I also like how they made sure that the reader understands that the human touch is necessary. In other words in A New Hope, it's all about good vs evil, but through Death Star one is able to understand the motivations of the characters better, as well as understand that things not always so cut & dried.
Revelation (Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, Book 8&hellip by Karen Traviss
The Legacy of the Force series is one of the most poorly conceived series to come out of the Expanded Universe, however once again Karen Traviss is able to rise above the inherent ludicrousness of the series to provide a strong volume that is fun and interesting. Jacen's fall continues, his actions continue to be out of character as do Tahiri's, but regardless the true strength of this novel comes from the segments on the Mandalorians, specifically if you have read Traviss' Republic Commando novels. It was nice to see the way she fit the pieces of the puzzle together after so long in Expanded Universe time period. I found parts of the story to be a little confusing, an old EU character… Read more
Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End (Two-Dis&hellip DVD ~ Johnny Depp
Overall I enjoyed this movie. It was alot of fun to watch although it is definately a flawed movie. The conclusion is too obvious, they overlook some of the main characters from the second movie particularly Commodore Norrington. He's in the movie very briefly despite being a major character in Pirates 2. In fact it would have been a better plot point if Norrington had become the new captain of the Dutchman because then he would have been locked in an unending search for redemption. The ending as is, is more like a punishment for doing something noble. However, overall the movie is enjoyable & fun. The actors are at the top of their game & overall it's a fun movie.
