This book has 900 good words to learn. Barrons SAT book has 3000. The good thing about this one is if you want to only memorize 900 or so words you do not have to figure out which ones are the better ones to learn. Barrons SAT book is great overall though and if you want to buy one good book, that is the one to buy....Read more
I wish I could have given it a zero instead of a 1.
When I read about this book when my wife ordered it I was pretty sure it would be a dud, because it talked about how bad public schools are instead of how good biology is.
It turned out to be even worse that I had expected.
I am currently home schooling my two daughters, and when I get around to teaching Biology I will use this book to keep the short leg of the table from rocking and then go buy a real high school or college level text to teach out of. You know, one that actually has some content. I have had good luck doing this with the other courses I am teaching. I am using 3 different Algebra texts, one given to me by the author, and three Spanish texts. When I buy old editions used they cost practically nothing, and are very good.
Do not waste your time or money on this piece of garbage, unless you have a bar-b-que that needs a little paper to help light it.
I bought this camera for my daughter for Christmas and we opened it this morning. The idea was we could open it first and record Christmas.
We got a big surprise. If you expect to open this and use it, think again. First it did not have a battery recharger included with it. That was bad, but the battery was charged so it wasn't as bad as it might have been. (On later reading I discovered you can use the camera itself to charge the battery, but a charger would be nice anyway.) However, it did not even come with a wimpy small memory card, so we will have to hop off to Walgreen's later today to pick one up.
So you can add $30- to the cost of this camera ($20- for the card and at least $10- for a battery charger) for the things that were not included.
Silly of me to think they might have included the things a person would need to actually run the camera.
I have been using an old addition of this book to work with my two daughters for the SAT for the past year. They are both getting ready to take the SAT for the Duke TIP program. This book is great. This year they both made it to the regional math championship because of what they learned practicing for the SAT. We have a couple of other books but we do not use them, this is all we need....Read more
I just received this book and it is a waste of money. I would not have bought it, except because of the free shipping I got half of it paid for by going over $25 on another book.
I am helping my daughters prepare for the SAT and I wanted some more practice problems to work, so I got this.
I have an old copy of Barron's "How to Prepare for the SAT I" test prep guide I bought from Amazon's sister used book company. It is a far better buy than this test prep book. First of all, they have all of the same test tips, and many of the same example problems; so by buying the regular SAT prep guide you get all the same math information, three times the problems to solve, and all the info on the English part of the exam including an excellent list of 3000 words with short definitions. Second of all the type in this book is huge, the margins take up one third of the page and the answers are listed up and down. In other words, half of each page is blank space.
I would return it if the shipping did not cost me so much.
If you are looking for extra problems to use for the SAT, look somewhere else.
If you want a cook book that tells you how to cook every American dish available, this is your book. I am a fairly good cook and these days use the internet to get recipes, but I keep coming back to Joy.
If you only want one cook book this is the one to own.
I had an older copy I bought in the 70s. I wore it out and now have a second one. Best value for the $ available.
I have read several of Follett's books and this is his worst. It is plodding and boring. It has the advantage of being real, but that is where it also falls down. Not every real story has to be told, and this is one of them.
It is obvious the reason this book was written was Perot had the money to pay Follett to write it. If it weren't for that, we would never be inflicted with this book.
I would have given this book one star, but it does have a moment or two, but that is all.
If you haven't read Eye of the Needle, read that instead.
I am writing this in response to the reviewer who thought this book went too far. It does not.
It tells the basics on regular sex, masturbation, homosexuality, birth control and abortion.
However in our world of TV casual sex, etc. girls and boys as young as 13 are going to need to know much more than this book offers. It is good introduction, but it fails to go into the details teenagers are going to need to know in order to make intelligent choices.
We bought it after my 11 year old daughter saw it on the bus home from school when a friend of hers showed it to her.
If you have a tween buy this book and get started, but remember that you will have to buy more books or have some difficult conversations if you want your daughter or son to eventually practice safe and responsible sex when the time is right for him or her.
I already wrote one review about how the belts break on this piece of junk all the time. Hoover told me to go jump in the lake when I e-mailed them about that.
Now the vacuum hose is collapsing on me. I e-mailed them about that too and haven't heard back. I will e-mail them again, but I don't hold out much hope.
If you want a good vacuum that doesn't break down all the time buy something else. I wish I had. I am about to return this piece of junk.
