This is a fantastic book. It has great characters, and a secret society conspiracy type plot that keeps it exciting without making it cliche. There are times that you can feel the helplessness, as well as the insanity of the large array of interesting characters. The graphic scenes of violence are expertly crafted, and just horrific enough to make you wrinkle your nose while enjoying them. This was my first book by Dan Simmons. I will definitely read more of his work.
