Outside of my own field of expertise I am very interested in literature, consumer electronics, entrepreneurship (especially the high-tech kind), philosophy, religion and politics. I enjoy reviewing books that I have read and I am especially happy to share my impressions of the products that I have used with others.
I regularly get a lot of requests for reviews, but am unfortunately not able to take a look at most of them. Due to a couple of bad experiences I will only consider reviewing books that I already have a sense that I might enjoy reading. In general I DO NOT review self-help/inspirational/motivational books. If I am not interested in reviewing your book or other product, I will probably not e-mail you back.

One of the main obstacles to the wider adoption of "smart" TVs and entertainment center PCs is the lack of convenient and accessible user interface. The traditional remote controls are very limited in their capacity, the touch-screen input is obviously out of question, smartphone apps tend to be buggy and slow, and we are still some time away from a truly effective voice input. There are several good wireless keyboards on the market right now, but most of them tend to be too big and bulky for the intimate space of one's living room. I have way too many USB peripherals, and I never seem to have enough free USB ports on my computers. I am primarily a Mac user, and have, among other things a MacBook Air. This computer in particular is severely deficient when it comes to the availability of USB ports. The latest model of that computer comes with two USB 3 ports and one Thunderbolt port. This is sufficient if you are traveling or have just a few devices that need connecting, but since MacBook Air has very limited specs (relatively small HDD and no CD/DVD drive) I end up using those ports at home quite a bit. Ancient Rome is one of the most famous and most reflected upon topics in all of history. In many respects modern historiography is to a large extent been influenced by the study of the classical period, and Rome in particular. Furthermore, Rome has influenced many artistic works; from Shakespeare's plays to the HBO miniseries to name just a couple that immediately spring to mind.
