Amazon is awesome! I have come across, and chosen many great books based on reading other people's reviews. Besides providing helpful information for other inquisitive readers, I think it's similar to what Carolyn See refers to as 'Charming Notes' in her book called 'Making a Literary Life'. It's kind of a thank you to the author -like: 'thanks, and this is what I liked about your book.'
Reviewing is also like an uncontrollable urge I have...When I read a good book, I wanna tell sOMeBoDY about it! Because, they might love it too! Also, posting a review about a book that I'm not crazy about is helpful, because books are expensive and the time we spend reading them is important too. So, I like to give and recieve an honest review, even if it's not always of five star and positive quality.
I am interested in a wide variety of subjects. I mostly read non-fiction,(because I love to learn about life) spiritual, inspirational, memoirs/ biographies, self-help, motivational, books on writing, and metaphysical books. I do like to read a good novel now and then. I LOVE childrens books too!

I think the author keeps you hooked because of the shock factor. As you're reading, you just can't believe all those things happened, and you keep reading to see what else will happen.
It's a story about a very unconventional family with parents who lack parenting skills to an extent that goes below neglect and endangerment. The kids are courageous and brave because they have to be. While a whole lot of this woman's early life was sad, there were some admirable things about the family and their story.
The book shocked me, saddened me, and made me laugh. I highly recommend it.

Almost 3 months of owning this, and I am still in love!! I usually read several books at a time, and never leave home w/out a book. -Usually 2-3 because I can't decide what to take. This is SO nice because it holds roughly 200 books so I can pick out whatever book I feel like reading at the time w/out having to tote them all around. The size is wonderful, fits great in my purse and is comfortable to hold in my hand. I read sitting up, standing up and lying down and w/this, my fingers and hands never get tired of holding a thick or bulky book or flipping the pages.

At our house, when it's someone's birthday, we get out the birthday books! This is a fun tradition we have where we get this special set of books out and read them to or with the birthday person.
