I've been recreating vinyl weight sets to have for display in my home. And these bars are perfect for that. I know some people have complained the spring clips don't fit , on reviews of the single bar that's the same as these. All 10 clips fit on to all 5 of these bars. Sometimes you might have to squeeze one clip with 2 hands, but they do fit. Now if only this company or someone made a 10 pack collection of standard hollow dumbbell handles. I like consistency....Read more
A gem of a song that I thought that was lost to the abyss of forgotten songs. It's a catchy little number great for toe tapping. My only complaint is it's not loud enough. As for the Lady Gaga reference, in my windows media music it states Lady Gaga as the composer. This is impossible because this song came out in 1983 or 1984. Lady Gaga was born in 1986....Read more
I have books by Lou Ferrigno and Steve Reeves. I have books that combine multiple bodybuilders giving their training tips. I even have the Charles Atlas course. The full 12 chapter system and the mini book 10 Steps To A Better Body. I'm also looking at possibly getting books from Dave Draper, and Larry Scott. I even hope that Reg Park books will be available. Okay you can see I'm old school when it comes to fitness. But I'm telling you there's something about these guys that puts the modern Mr. Olympia contender to shame. I'm not talking about the massiveness and muscle size, because the new guys are tremendously massive with gigantic muscles rippling all over their bodies. But the names I mentioned had great physiques. They possess the look I strive for. Their charisma was enchanting and captivating.
So now after a long dissertation I'm going to talk about this book. Well not yet, but soon. So I started thinking. Hey I wonder if David Prowse has any bodybuilding books. After all he was considered to be a fitness guru of the highest standard and very much in demand. So I figure there has to be at least one book. Well after days and days of searching the internet, Amazon, Ebay, what have you. Typing things like The David Prowse Bodybuilding Book. Getting Fit The David Prowse Way and too many other possibilities I won't bore you with. So I typed Dave Prowse instead of David Prowse here on Amazon and saw Fitness is Fun by Dave Prowse. With absolutely no info on the book's actual content. I began to wonder. Is this the famous British Fitness expert or just some one else with a similar name? Is it a kiddie book with cartoon drawings or photos of small children playing sports and doing gym class exercises? So after deliberating for a few hours I decided to take a chance and buy the book. When it arrived I couldn't believe how pleasantly surprised I was and still am. There's all kinds of personal history. His involvement in fitness, nutritional advice, and best of all it is chock full of photos all in Black and White of Mr. Prowse himself demonstrating over 60 different exercises using bodyweight, dumbbells, barbells, and sit up bench. There's even a few pics of him with a stationary bike, a rowing machine, a chest expander, and a Bullworker. There are a few photos of his family doing some of the exercises. But the vast majority of the exercises are performed by Dave himself. What I have is an 11 1/2"x 8 1/2" 160 page paperback edition. Amazon lists the hardcover edition as having 176 pages. I don't know if that includes extra photos or not, or whether or not they may be in color. I just don't know. Some may say "Yeah David Prowse was a big guy, but he's not all that muscular compared to so many other people" That is true, but his wide shoulders, narrow waist and dedication to health and fitness makes him a person very worthy of learning from.
I know iron weights are better. They take up less space and they're supposedly more efficient and all that stuff, but there's just something about vinyl that takes me back to the days of my youth. Your first workout will be bringing the box into the house. Yep, all 66 lbs. is shipped in one box. They're big. They're bulky, They're heavy. They're fun....Read more
I know what you may be thinking. This looks like someone trying to unload their old weight set on Amazon. But much to my amazement this product is actually sold on the Weider website. I just find it strange that the Weider logo is not impressed into the plates. A set of small handles would have been nice. Now what did I mean about Hulkamania running wild. Well I just happened to find a set of Hulkamania weight plates on Ebay. Later I found out there used to be a Hulkamania Barbell set. Unable to locate the actual bar I opted for this set to use the bar. I bought two sets of these and the extra plates I use on my lever bench....Read more
I wish I didn't have to write anymore because my title says it all. But I'll try. You do get weights, bars, and collars, but they're not the ones you see. I don't know what you'll get, but they sent me DP plates with black collars. Collars smaller than these pretty red ones you see here. Plus all the plastic rings crumbled like dust. Then again it was under another seller. Perhaps you'll fare better than I did. I strongly suggest you contact the seller and grill them to tell you exactly what you'll get. The only reason I gave this 3 stars and not lower was because I have other DP plates on my deadlift bar and added these for consistency....Read more
This by far is the most powerfully intense soundtrack of the 5 discs available (4 actual episode discs and 1 compilation disc). The intensity never lets up most of the way through. It has great dynamics and just a teeny bit of that schmaltzy stuff near the end. However I must point out this is labeled as Volume Two. The Disc called Married/ Homecoming should have been volume two. That's if they followed the chronological order of the series. But they didn't....Read more
Most of this disc is pretty good. But what really bothers me is the omission of two key pieces of music. First of all the first track which is the theme song was not in the pilot. The first piece of music heard when watching is a track called Love Theme from... Which is available on the compilation disc. But that's still not what's bothering me. What has me desponded is the follow up music where things take a turn for the worse and the music transitions to something eerie is what's missing. That moment of the nightmarish music is the whole reason for the existence of the series. Without it it lacks the full experience of being drawn into why Dr. Banner seeked untapped hidden strength in the first place. Also missing is the build up music to his second transformation in the high pressure chamber. I hope they redo this soundtrack again and let it be a stand alone soundtrack instead of sharing it with A Death In The Family which forces them to make omissions due to time allow ability. I mean really, watch the pilot and you for sure will know what I mean....Read more
How many times have you searched Amazon looking for the album of that awesome band from Pennsylvania that played the club circuit in L.A. way back in the early 80s that rocked your socks off, only to find another band that uses the same name but is nowhere as exciting or talented. If any one out there has the cassette of the REAL Snowmen playing Port Hueneme please let me know. I'm willing to pay a pretty high price for a copy. I don't care if I get 0 0f 1,000,000 votes. This cd and that other cd snowmen in orbit have available for years. And no one's posted a review. So I really don't care what you think of this review....Read more
