Kevin Lim's profile

Kevin Lim is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in Communication at the University at Buffalo (SUNY), where he also works as a graduate assistant at the Teaching & Learning Center. His dissertation involves the shifting sovereignty of the Internet in Asia.

For both his work and blog, he studies and shares his interest in the wide-ranging cultural affordances of technology, focusing particularly on the pedagogical as well as disruptive aspects of social media. Dabbling for both pragmatic and play, he seeks an ideal interplay between online and offline life, be it through social networking, blogging or lifecasting.

In his recent project, Kevin constructed a "sousveillance backpack" to establish telepresence with loved ones, aid memory, and accelerate trust with viewers. He openly wishes to become a "social cyborg", where the meshing of human and networking technology would allow one's presence to be augmented by the minds of many, as decisions are poll in real-time from diverse peers.
