The book is terrible. Like a previous reviewer stated, there are no in depth instructions for anything you need in depth instructions for! I am trying to figure out why this book was chosen by my school. Ugh. Very frustrating when your major depends on you mastering math. Unfortunately this book can be used for both semesters if your school splits pre-calc into two semesters. Two semesters with a terrible book. Joy.

I purchased this book new and scratched the code myself. It was completely new and mymathlab won't accept the code. I've been emailing their customer support and they've determined the access code in my book is invalid. So this could completely ruin my semester and no one has any idea how important this is and amazon just messed it up and cost me more than I can afford.

The book is okay. The only downside is that the textbook was required for the class and it turns out we aren't even going to use the textbook. When I showed the textbook to my Precalculus teacher, he told me that it does cover all the material for precalculus. Sucks that we won't be working based off of the textbook.

Some of the problems are not explained very thoroughly, and I had to figure out why the answer is the way it is.

This book is a math book. A Calculus book, well I shouldn't say book. What it is really is just plastic hole punched pages that could go into the binder. Very useful since students do not have to carry a giant book around. Great thing is that the student could take one chapter out and just carry that until the class begins a new chapter. For example, I started my class with chapter six, so I had the chapter six section, then I took that out and put chapter seven so on and so forth.

My professor barely wanted to use the book except for basic examples, because the author doesn't give you any in depth examples with good explanations ever. Only the easiest problems are explained. I did not like this book at all.

I don't dislike math, so I'm not rating this on my feelings for the subject. I just don't think it is a good book. I have always had an aptitude for math, which is why I was able to take this course online, but I have had to buy other books to supplement this one for my current course. The Mathlab is decent, but the homework includes things not covered in the book. This would be fine if it was a "taking it one step further" scenario, but no.

HOWEVER, if you do have to use this book, the mathlab is the only way to figure out some of this stuff. Remember, though, your instructor has to provide you with a course code for you to have access to mathlab. Check with your professor before you buy to see if you can even use it.
